Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in Bronzed Garnet

My Selfridges order consisted almost all from Suqqus, except this one which slipped inside my shopping bag by a microsecond click, a present from my right index finger to me which is triggered by the immense curiosity based somewhere inside the cosmetics part of the addiction center in my brain. That curiosity will kill this cat one day or at least her bank account.

It all happens so fast, make-up artist gets public by first starting her webpage, then the tutorials, then the events and finally the line is released. Each step being a part of the plan, I got to see it happen too fast that it looked a bit too artificial to me. Sorry to bother the fans here but she hardly had like 10 tutorials and afterwards everything was pumping her products by using this channel. I must have felt a little disappointed (and used?) since I was desperately hoping for another Lisa Eldridge on board but looked like her interests were different on the first place. By this feelings, I decided not to get anything at first. Watching the movies and checking out swatches, eye shadow palettes seemed like a bit too frost to me. Then in one of the videos, I have seen this wonderful thing called "Colour Morphing Eye Shadow Pencil". Let's try to ignore the very forced marketing name behind this product but shortly after the release beauty blogosphere started raving about these. After checking this lovely swatch set and review, I decided on Bronzed Garnet, which by chance happened to be for green eyes.

It has to be mentioned that despite my disappointment to her social media tricks, I very much like Charlotte Tilbury. Here is the logo of her line swatched with Bronzed Garnet. This shade has a beautiful complex shimmer, doesn't appear frosty nor flat. It is also very pigmented and smooth. Very easy to apply and blend on the edges and once it is set, it lasts all day. I seriously love the formula and wrote a few other colors in my wish list for the upcoming Selfridges order.

This shade is recommended for green eyes, so here it comes. I applied this one on the entire lid and defined the crease with a black matte eye shadow lightly. It was 5 min eye look which lasted all day on me without smudging or looking dull.

Final thoughts: Even if you get nothing from the line, be sure to check out one of those eye shadow sticks. They are truly worth the price. You can find her products in Selfridges UK or her website. I believe she only delivers to UK though but Selfridges has now international delivery to selected countries.

Have you picked up anything from Charlotte Tilbury? Do you find the way she enters and makes use of Social Media alright?

  1. KaPOW! Now as a brown-eyed girl I ignore all 'x flatters y eye colour' stuff as irrelevant to me, but this truly does amazing things to your irises :O

    1. LOL, yes it does nice things to green irises but this one is way too warm for me so it is a little bit of a challenge to make it work with the rest of the makeup. So lesson learned: It is not only about the eye color but a combination of other coloring (hair/undertones of skin etc.) as well...
About brown eyes, I love how blues show up, which crash badly with my eyes. Also brown eyes are generally better to wear any type of color, lucky yous ;-)

  2. I don't know how I feel about Charotte Tilbury, but I totally trust you, dear Sara! And, as we have identically colored eyes, I am afraid that I am going to have to find a way to get this.

    1. You said you were in Greece right? I think Selfridges ships to Europe, which you may want to check out. I am sure you will enjoy this one as much as I do! :-)

  3. Holy cow, that is incredibly flattering with your eyes. SO VERY VERY FLATTERING.
I do agree about the CT website, videos and then all of a sudden BOOM + makeup line. I guess that was the plan all along. It does seem to be a well thought out range though and these sticks look the most interesting. I'm glad you are enjoying this because this one looks so pretty on you.

    1. Thanks :-* It is good that there are videos of each product in application. It was where I figured out that the prime shades in almost each palette is frost, which I am not particularly fan of. It was also one of the videos where I have seen these sticks and loved how it looked.

  4. That's a gorgeous colour on you, I think I might pick one of these up when I next place an order.
I'm still quite surprised on ho little blog coverage the products seem to have got, makes me wonder how successful the line has been.

    1. I think most of the people doesn't know how to order the lines. The coverage is not that good at the moment and Selfridges shipping costs are high. If there would be shipping with reasonable price, I would have picked up 2-3 sticks more but now I am trying to collect the items and place just one order. CT's marketing strategy was also interesting, more self contained. I don't think she had sent bloggers some samples.

    2. I agree, I think if they had gone with having a US site as well they would have done better, and there doesn't seem to have been much interaction with bloggers like you say. I only noticed they had a new product out, the golden highlighter, when checking the whats new bit on the selfridges website.

    3. It is very hard to decide without reading reviews of many bloggers if you are ordering sight unseen. Especially with a new brand since you are not sure about the quality and what to expect. The price point is almost at the same point with designer brands, so it also effects the decision in a way. I argument saying "oh with that much money I could order that TF quad which I wanted for so long". I think they should definitely send out more samples to the bloggers.

  5. Hi Sara, thank you for showing us this wonderful product. I am considering taking the plunge and put an order to Selfridges soon, my first actually, and am still doing my wish list... This color is remarkable on you, very sultry look, but with my brown eyes, I am wondering how it would show up? Would you recommend it or perhaps I should go with the ones suited for my coloring ? Or maybe I should get a whole bunch for fun? Decisions , decisions...

  7. Hi Sara, why did i miss this post?? I think Charlotte Tilbury just skipped everything and went straight to her own line, because she was the one who helped Estee Lauder design the Tom Ford line to begin with, and alot of her quads actually do resemble TF once you swatch them. At least, the glitter is the same. Anyway, i'm so glad to see this worked so well on you! My pencils have sadly started to dry up, and only now i'm learning to use them - smudge it all out cos otherwise they crease in my tiny ridiculous eye fold! LOL!!
