For the last couple of weeks, I have been playing with Suqqu Fall Palettes and trying to find out what is the best way for me to wear them. The presence of vibrant semi transparent shades makes this journey more exciting. Sometimes it just looks wow by the first try, sometimes it needs some trial and error to make it work. Ex-15 was love at the first sight but Ex-16 to my opinion could look better on me. I am still experimenting though. Today I would like to show you my first try with Ex-17 Hatsuhimo.
Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadow EX-17 Hatsuhimo |
The accent shade of this one is a shimmery vibrant lavender, placed next to a deep cool matte purple. The rest of the palette is neutral with a khaki twist. The concept looks similar to other two quads of the collection, two light shades, one shimmery and one satin and a mid-toned neutral with complex shimmer quality.

The shades are as follows:
#1: Shimmery light peachy pink with frost finish.
#2: Mid-toned khaki taupe with multi dimensional shimmer of gold and green.
#3: Light pink with satin finish.
#4a: Deep cool purple with matte finish.
#4b: Semi-transparent pinkish lavender with shimmery finish.

I started thinking #4b as a layering shade, not only for a gel liner but also all over the other shades to spice things up. Check out how #4a changes #4a to a shimmery lighter purple and gives it dimension once layered on top. To me it can be seen as an eye look translator, you might wear the four shades for a neutral look. If you want something more interesting for the night or just get bored after the lunch break, you can just dust this shade all over the eye lid and it transfers the look to something a little more interesting but still wearable.

Below this is exactly what I did. I completed my eye makeup by four neutral shades, then layered #4b over them, denser on inner corner, blending towards the mid of the lid. It transfered it to a purple eye look. Isn't that amazing?

I applied the new blush of Chanel, Joues Contraste in #85 Evocation to the cheeks and Giorgio Armany Rouge Ecstasy in Daybreak to the lips, which is now officially my new go-to nude lippie. Here is the resulting look.
FOTD with Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadow EX-17 Hatsuhimo |
Suqqu Ex-17 reminds us of Ex-12 from their spring collection on the first sight...
Comparison Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadow EX-17 vs. EX-12 |
... but it turns out that they are very different. Ex-12 has a grass green shade, perfect for the spring. Ex-17 on the other hand has a deeper and khaki pulling taupe. On the eyes they also have very different effects, Ex-12 gives a subtle soft look but Ex-17 is for me a smokey palette with deeper shades since I like applying #2 on the lid.

Final thoughts: Love! Maybe not head over heels like I felt for Ex-15 but still expecting it to be one of my mostly worn quads this Fall. I am going to post a wrap-up of all three quads soon so if you are about to "make-up your mind", you may want to check it out before you order.
As for the good news, Selfridges is now shipping these internationally! Check out Belly's post on that one if you are in US.
Do you find yourself craving for some Suqqu? What is on your wish list?
That's lovely as well, the combined 4a/4b is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteHi Clare, yes it is. I must have also checked the combination of #2 and #4b. #4b combines with everything beautifully. Have you made up your mind yet? ;-)
DeleteI think I am leaning towards #17, by the time I make my mind up the holiday sets will be out ;)
DeleteLOVE! That is beautiful! I never thought that there would be a passing resemblance to EX12 but there is something very familiar about the tones. I didn't pick this one up thinking that the colors were too cool, but this looks really amazing on you, Sara.
ReplyDeleteThanks Belly. Yes the shades are a bit on the cool side, especially when compared to your beloved Ex16. I slowly come to the conclusion that too warm shades doesn't flatter my complexion. :- /
DeleteI am wearing EX -16 for the first time today -am in love-I am now contemplating 15 or 17 -the shadows are so good !!-this combo looks great on you -I layered they pink in ex 16 -these shadows do not get muddy when layered but changed into new pretty shades-what to do.....what to do....
ReplyDeleteThe bright color is very good for layering, I am also very much impressed.
DeleteWell, it is a tough decision with 15 and 17. I would say 15 is very different because the green shade is a little more opaque, so not only good for layering but also wonderful for a pop of color at a concentrated point. I found 16 and 17 rather similar but if you like smokey eyes kind of denser look, I think you should go for 17.
oh oh oh! *prints out your face, cuts out, sticks onto my head* cheers my dear ;D
ReplyDeleteLOL, Kate, this is exactly what I am doing with all the creative looks you post, and you rock each of them!
Deletei still don't have the EX-17 but I think I'd like to put it in my basket after seeing your swatches. It looks really pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt s certainly a nice addition to any stash. I am sure you will enjoy it. Which other quads do you have/like from Suqqu?
DeleteHi hun, i just started using Suqqu eyeshadow last year and i really like them so far. :) Himesango - it's my go to palette when i'm in a rush/RUN in the morning :)
Deleteand thank you for posting wayne goss brushes,it really helps :)
I really enjoyed reading your posts and comments
Greetings from Switzerland :)
Every eyeshadow shade looks good on you - Tom Ford, Chanel, Suqqu :'(( I wish I could rock a variety of shades too but my yellow Asian undertones is a hindrance! Looks great on you, Sara!
ReplyDeleteYes but believe me I started coming to the conclusion that I can't pull off very warm and very cool stuff. I was thinking silvers were rather a problem but now I see also with very warm shades it doesn't work. Chanel Seduction looks so good on you and it is really meh on me. See I haven't posted about this one until now LOL. Thanks so much for your kind words though, it means a lot to me :-*
DeleteYou always rock the suqqu palettes :) So pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks xox
DeleteAhhh, such a beautiful palette. I have one Suqqu palette, and I regret not grabbing Ex-12 when I had the chance!
ReplyDeleteI think some of the limited palettes from spring collection are still available at Selfridges website, you may want to check them out.
