That one collection that I am super excited about is about to hit the counters in Europe. It has already released in the states a few weeks ago and I am expecting some more items to reach me in the following days. In the meanwhile, I would like to present you... *drums*... Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease and Cream Color For Eyes in Platinum.
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease and Cream Color For Eyes Platinum |
Let's start with the lips for a change. I am a religious follower of matte lip trends. I was almost loosing myself at MAC Matte Lips release (reviewed partly here) and ended up with 6 shades, ugh... Since I purchased them, I wear them almost daily. My favorite at the moment is Nouvelle Vogue. I was almost considering to "back it up" when I heard about Tom Ford coming with the matte lips range. And there it was, Tom Ford version of Nouvelle Vogue, a cool mid-toned pink, Pink Tease.
Until now I have only tried Pink Tease from the collection, but I am deeply in love with this formula. It is very creamy and doesn't try out my lips. It goes on smoothly and stays very long. I am a foodie and a coffee addict drinker, so at the office when I start at 9am, drink a coffee, eat lunch, drink another coffee not to sleep and decide to go to the rest room at around 3pm just to notice a good part of the lipstick on my lips was a really shocking moment.
As for the comparison between MAC and TF Mattes. I would say I feel like Tom Ford stays much longer on me. They both don't dry my lips (I don't usually have drying lips) and I can wear them without conditioning my lips in any way. Tom Ford though feels a little creamier and goes on smoother, settles a little less to the lines. The main difference I would say is the staying power though.
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease |
I pulled out some mattes and similar shades from my stash. You can see that MAC Nouvelle Vogue is deeper, Chanel L'Eclante is much brighter (and this one in fact dries out my lips). Chanel La Raffinee is the closes from my stash but it is less matte and shinier. I also included another favorite of mine from Tom Ford Spring Collection, Summer Fling, which of course has a different (sheer/lip balmy) formula and at the same time it is warmer.
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease and comparison to similar shades |
I would like to compare Pink Tease to other Tommies too so went to Tom Ford counter at Stuttgart Breuninger. There was a sweet SA and she helped me search for cool pinks from their regular and sheer line. Here they are, nothing is like Pink Tease. Pink Dusk is warmer, Quiver is lighter, Flamingo is warmer and deeper, Spanish Pink is much warmer. So read, even if you collect Tom Ford lippies, there won't be another like Pink Tease <3 (big love!)
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease and comparison to other Tom Ford pinks |
Here is me wearing Pink Tease. It is no secret that I love cool pinks which are not too deep nor too pale and this one hits my sweet spot. I like combining it with Tom Ford blush in Wicked, which I am also wearing at the photo below. On my eyes I have Tom Ford Cream Color For Eyes in Platinum, which is our next topic. Gosh, looking at my photos, I thought, where is my tan go, where?
FOTD with Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease |
Tom Ford Cream Color For Eyes in Platinum was first release during the summer of 2012. At the time the only Tom Ford Counter was in Berlin and I was lucky enough to be visiting. I was just getting warmed up to the line though so ended up only purchasing their now discontinued quad Burnished Amber, which is still one of my all time favorite quads. Anyhow, how did I miss those cream eye shadows? During Summer 2013 Tom Ford released two more cream eye shadows, Pink Haze and Escapade (reviewed here). I was very fond of their quality and the staying power.
Now that I tried the reported Platinum, I understand why I overlooked it. This one has to be worn on the lids to be fully appreciated. It has a dense texture and a very small amount is enough to get full opacity. It is very easy to apply. I like using my fingers, it glides on smooth and cover the whole lid in just a few seconds. Before it sets which is not before a minute, you have enough time to clean the edges and blend. And better... it lasted over 14 hours on me once applied over Nars Pro Prime. The effect is a gorgeous metallic look. Of course if you are not into metallic eye shadows, this one is not for you but its complex shimmer and subtle yet there effect is a big winner for me. I have been wearing it since 3 days, non stop for a quick eye makeup. It also has enough warmth to work across different skin tones. Big thumbs up.

Below I am wearing Platinum on the lids, photos are taken with flash to show the metallic texture of the eye shadow. Without artificial light, the shimmer is very subtle and day appropriate. I don't know if I would wear Platinum to a holiday event but I will surely wear it all year around. I am glad that they reported it, because it was being sold for $$$ at evil bay!

I then thought alright, let's have a little bit of fun. This is gorgeous Gigi Hadid for the promo photo, look at those lips *faints*. She is wearing another shade, called Flame, an orange red on this photo. I thought I could try to recreate this... look... Not really but try to look like this in the photos.

The challenges: appearing cross-eyed (crop the half of the photo), looking too up, too much down, having a big chin (crop it out!) and here is what is left of me... A Gigi pose... Do you like it?
My version of Tom Ford Holiday promo ;-) |
Final thoughts: Pink Tease is a lovely matte, didn't dry out my lips and for a cool pink lipstick lover as myself, the shade is very wearable. Loving it. Platinum is easy to apply with fingers and very long lasting. Beware it is metallic though. The shade is a great everyday one over each lipstick shade. Price of Tom Ford is high up in the sky but it definitely delivers the quality for it. Thumbs up.
I have four more shades I ordered from US (thanks to a dear friend, *smooch*), so do expect more reviews coming up soon.
Are you eyeing anything from Tom Ford Holiday?
The products in this post are provided free of charge for my consideration.
I am not paid for this review, all opinions are honest and my own.

Hi, your makeup looks stunning and you've recreated the promo photo beautifully. Which blush are you wearing in the top (first) photo? It's really pretty. Thanks. Anne
ReplyDeletelovely products and gorgeous shots. You look great! Christy
ReplyDeleteHi Christy,
Deletethanks very nice of you.
Man.. I didn't think I wanted platinum.. but I do now! Lovely re-creation! So gorgeous! And I bought Chanel's new eye color envol after seeing it on you! What are you wearing on the inner corner?? Sorry I don't have a profile...... Cathy :)
ReplyDeleteCathy, don't miss Platinum the second time. I am so glad to hear that you enjoy Envol too. On the inner corner I have the light pink shade from MAC Brooke Shield Palette called Pretty.
DeleteThank you!
DeleteI love your Gigi's rendition :-D Plus don't forget, she has photoshop & even falsies on bottom lash, looks like. Thanks for this review! I think I may pass Platinum.. really not into metallic but it sure looks pretty on you.
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, if you are not into metallic, then probably you would be better off without that one. Yes she is wearing Flame on lips and photoshop on face. Wish I had some more photoshop capabilities, I would have tuned my photo too to make it more fun ;-)
DeleteTom will surely pick you for his next campaign if he sees your photo! Can't wait for Platinum - one of my biggest make-up regrets is passing on Escapade and then loving Pink Haze so much. These formulations are incredible and that colour is so wearable. Susan, London
ReplyDeleteLOL Susan, you mean I should keep on posing and hoping that he sees my effort? ;-))
DeleteI also like both Escapade and Pink Haze but I have to say I find Platinum more wearable. If I wouldn't need tiniest bit to complete the full lid area, I would have even bought a back-up, it is that good. You are right, this one wins on all aspects.
I can't wait till this collection comes out, really want to get some of the lipsticks and Platinum as I missd out on that the first time around. Both shades look lovely on you :)
ReplyDeleteHi Clare, Platinum will look gorgeous on your blue eyes. Which lipstick are you eyeing?
DeleteI'm thinking First time and Pussycat, not sure I could pull off the brighter ones :)
DeleteHahaha! You ought to recreate the promoshots more often - with commentary. Hmm... Maybe I'll start doing that myself when I come home... Thankfully, there's no Tom Ford counters here, so I instead of running up to it dressed in only my PJs brandishing a screenshot demanding they get me that eyeshadow. That sad, I still shouldn't be let anywhere without a chaperone (there are some very tempting items at the ByTerry counter in Space NK).
ReplyDeleteHi Siri, lol you made me laugh! By Terry counter is really very dangerous, so is SpaceNK. I am so happy we don't have them here lol. I will create some shots if it amazes you lol.
DeletePlatinum looks absolutely gorgeous on you, Sara!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lily :-*
DeleteLoving to wear it lately.
Beyoootiful bright pink! Tom Ford lipcolors really break my heart. I wish I got along better with them because I love all the colors. And please, recreate more ads! You look lovely from all angles!!
ReplyDeleteHi Belly,
Deletesuch a lovely comment, thanks so much, *beer hugs* ;-)
Yes pink is lovely, cool and yet wearable. I have heard Black Dahlia is a little more drying than this one or First Time. So check out next time you are at the counter. Put it on :-)
I love a good metallic eye and bright pink lip! Both of these are lovely on you :)

Thanks Jen,
Deletelove this shade of pink, so much!
Metallic eye is not my fav but this one works :-)
Gorgeous love the lipstick! Great vibrant color.
ReplyDeleteNora
Hi Nora. Thanks!
DeletePlatinum being repromoted is a wonderful opportunity for those who missed it in 2012 when TF first introduced his cream eyeshadow formula. I bought it back then and thought TF's cream eyeshadow had those by Chanel beat by a mile and in 2013, when I purchased Escapade and Pink Haze, my opinion was confirmed. I just wish TF would bring out more of these lusterous, smooth creations. As for Platinum, the texture, finish, and complexity of this beautiful and timeless shade is simply unbeatable. It was a star back in 2012 and it is a star in 2014 :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for the lipstick, I purchased Pink Tease for day and Plum Lush for evening. Because of my age, I have to prep my lips well beforehand so I slather on extra moisturizer and let my lips drink it in while I do my makeup. I then apply ByTerry Baume de Rose which fills in my lip lines and provides a nice cushion between my lips and the lipstick. I know, it's a bit of extra trouble, but the beautiful color and soft lustre of these mattes is so worth it. There's nothing flat, dry, or one-dimensional about the TF mattes which means even us older women can wear them if our lips are in good condition.
I also ordered Plum Lush, I am hoping to love it as well. If you have Platinum from first release, can you tell if they are the same? I have heard that this one is a little warmer. Thanks very much for all the tips with preparation. I have to yet try ByTerry Baume de Rose. I am glad to hear that matte formula of Tom Ford works for all ages. I think it is one of the strengths of Tom Ford line. Nude Dip for example is so metallic but I have tried it on my mother and it worked wonderfully. It is hard to find such quality. Thanks for stopping by, always a pleasure to hear from you xox
DeleteHi Sara. Love your picture! I just had to order Pink Tease now. :-). ~Dawn
ReplyDeleteLOL Dawn, we both like similar stuff ad you have Wicked too, so this one should work with that really well :-)
DeleteI super love Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pink Tease. I like the color and the pigmentation. I am also eyeing on that Tom Ford Cream Color For Eyes in Platinum. I super like the coverage. How I wish to have them asap....
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are lovely choices, I am sure you will enjoy them as much as I do. I am trying not to wear the same makeup everyday, which is not working lol
DeleteReady to become a TF model's !!!
ReplyDeleteThe eyeshadow is really beautiful, pink tease is too cold to seduce me.
Paddychat
LOL Paddy, yes ready but I am not sure when I will be seen by Tom ;-)
DeleteEyeshadow is a must, if you don't like that cool tones, you may check out others.
I agree this shade needs to be worn on the lids to tell its full story. I only picked Spice, and now i'm regretting. Why are these thing so expensive?!?!?
ReplyDeleteLOL Linda... I know you will regret so I think you shouldn't pass on Platinum.
DeleteYes unfortunately the price point is really steep :-((
I so agree with you on the formula of the matte lipstick! I have been testing and loving mine, too! I have Pussycat but now you want me to order Pink Tease! Hehe. Might be too barbie for me, though...
ReplyDeleteLOL Jaa, I think Pussycat is also so pretty. I have ordered that one, hoping to try it soon, very soon :-))
DeletePlatinum wow! I REALLY want ALL the Tom Ford lipsticks
ReplyDeleteStacey | Expat Make-Up Addict xx
