Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie for Rêverie Parisienne Spring 2015 Collection, Review, Swatch, Comparison & FOTD

I am officially on holiday! Yay! Starting from Monday I will be traveling for a week or two with just one day in between at home. Blog might not be active as it is at the moment. I might schedule a few posts, but I am really considering to use the time as a break and a recharge opportunity. This year I have posted around 200 reviews. It takes around 6 hours to prepare a post, including product hunt, comparison search, taking and editing photos, writing a post, which makes 50 full days in a year. I am doing it with passion but the numbers might tell you why I need a break from time to time.

That said, I might not hold back the reviews of a few items I would like to show you as soon as possible. This year the best of posts might be delayed a little. I will try to organize everything hopefully by tomorrow and know more by then.

Today I have the second quad from Chanel's highly coveted Spring Collection (first one, Tisse Paris is reviewed here). I am hearing beauty enthusiasts being head over heels with this collection, for a good reason. Chanel's 2014 Make-up Collections failed to impress but Rêverie Parisienne Spring 2015 Collection looks like it hits the jackpot with feminine and wearable combinations of pink and coral. Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie is no exception.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie offers a stunning combination of muted coral, complex copper brown and grey green with gold shimmer. There is also a white in the mix, which can be added to the other shades to make them more pastel and spring appropriate. I am personally not a fan of stark white shimmery shades but since all the other three are making my heart skip a beat, I am willing to get along with it.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie

I have written numerous times how much I love the new Chanel formula. Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie delivers in terms of formula and shade selection. I am excited to see different shades in a palette, you know we have way too many ton sur ton out there, who likes another green quad? Tisse Fantaisie does fit in the gap between Tisse Venitien (reviewed here) and Tisse Vendome (reviewed here), both of them being my all time favorites.

Tisse Fantaisie has a coral close to Tisse Vendome, combined with a warmer green than any of the greens in Tisse Venitien. I think one can justify owning all three.

The shades in Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie can be described as follows:

Top left: A muted mid-toned peachy coral with satin to shimmery finish. It is a lovely accent shade and can be placed anywhere in the eye look to get a unique effect.

Top right: A very light cool white with shimmery finish This is one shade I have to learn to combine with the others. I wished there would be a less stark color, such as a champagne to be used as a highlighter in the inner corner or under brow bone. This white is not very sheer but can be added on other shades to make them more pastel.

Bottom right: A beyond pretty deep reddish brown with copper shimmer. Just this shade on its own and you are good to go. It is also very intense and can be applied on the crease. A multi-tasking stunner!

Bottom left: A mid-toned grayish moss green with golden shimmer, which makes it pull it neutral to warm. Another stunner, lovely all over the lid or as an accent.

Swatch: Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie

Here is my first try with Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie. I can imagine many different looks with this one but for the one below I have used the coral on the inner one third, blended with the green on the outer lid and defined the outer corner and crease with the coppery brown. As you see on the eyes they don't look very intensive but rather muted. They are buildable though if you want to go for more drama. At the moment I don't know what to do with the strong white shade so added a touch of it on the inner corner as a highlight. You need to be light handed with it though since it is intensive and you may end up highlighting your fine lines instead of your eyes.

In-action: Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie

You can of course go for a more blended look with these. I always want to show you how shades look one by one applied, so tend to blend less when I take photos for the blog. I love the way that they are very nicely blendable but also possible to be seen one by one. (meaning they don't overland just by themselves if that makes sense).

Below I am wearing also the pretty flower blush from the collection, review will be up soon on that one. On my lips I have a mixed shade of two three Chanel lipsticks from previous collections. I like this eye look with pinks and with corals alike so I would like to show you how it looks with a neutral pink lip.

FOTD: Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie

FOTD: Chanel Les 4 Ombres #236 Tisse Fantaisie

When I first saw Tisse Fantaisie it reminded me of Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs #502 Coup de Foudre from 2013 Spring Collection. You can see an eye make-up with that one here (at the end of the post). I was amazed with the idea of combining corals to the greens at the time it was released. Even today Coup de Foudre is one of my all time favorite eye shadow quads.

Tisse Fantasie is a more wearable version of this color theme since the shades are not that vibrant. Fantasie is more subdued and muted in its selection of green tone and coral is less intense. So good news to those who couldn't make Coup de Foudre work, they may still check out Tisse Fantasie.

Also check out Sabrina's post for more swatches.

Final thoughts: Although I am not very sure what I should do with a very cool white shimmery eye shadow, all the other three shades are enough to excite me. The combination of them are so lovely and the quality is superb. To me Tisse Fantaisie is a must have of this upcoming season.

Are you be traveling for holidays? Have you planned anything for new year's eve?

  1. Hey Sara, oh this is pretty! It reminded me of Coup de Foudre as well, so thanks for the comparison! I like how it looks on you, and I think the muted quality makes it easy to wear :) Have a lot of holiday fun! xx

    1. Hi Sunny,
Yes Coup de Foudre was the first thing which came to mind, but good thing that they are not so close in the end.
I also wish you a nice and fun holiday season!

  2. The scarf looks just lovely on you. Great pick.
I am not thrilled by this combination of shades... I don't know why Chanel never really excite me...

    1. Thanks Andrea,
I have so many scarfs, almost as bad as my lipstick stash lol.
If you don't like Chanel in general, it might be because they are always so muted or something?

  3. Wow, the coppery bronze shade in this palette is amazing! I'd be tempted to buy this just for that one shade. Love the look you created with it :)

    1. Hi Jen,
yes bronze shade is to dir for. It doesn't appear all that shimmery on the eyes but it is really nice. It combines beautifully with green or coral for an everyday eye too!

  4. I am more likely to get this variation! Love love love that moss green shade. It's the type of green that I find flattering on my eyes. :D They almost have a metallic finish on your arm swatches! I agree with you about the time it takes to do one post and I think only us bloggers realize that. Have a safe and fun trip! You deserve all the time you need!

    1. Hi Jaa,
I think this one will look great on you. Green is great so is the brown/copper. They appear shimmery on the arm swatches but on the eyes the shimmer is ore subdued. Thanks, I hope that you have great holidays too!

  6. From a lurker, thank you for letting us know you are on holiday. I get frustrated with bloggers who just stop posting with no notice.
Thanks also for all your work and terrific swatches. I appreciate the quality of the photos and your opinions.

    1. Hi Olia,
I am glad you liked it. I am loving it, can't get enough of it at the moment. I hope it will be available soon. I think for most of the world the release time is around January.

  8. This is my favorite product out of the Spring collection! I've yet to try any Chanel eyeshadows, but maybe this collection will be the place to start.

    1. I can't agree more about the "favorite" part. I love this one more than that one blush which is so highly rated because of the flowers. It is pretty to look at but doesn't perform all that well in the end. This quad though, it is such a versatile beauty!

  9. Thanks for the comparison! I'm more drawn to the Guerlain one but when I think about it, the Chanel palette is easier to wear. I really like the combination. :)

    1. Hi Xuvious,
if you like brighter, bolder looks, you will like Guerlain Coup de Foudre more but Chanel made this combination so wearable, it is something one shouldn't miss.

  10. hi sara!! merry christmas and a very happy new year to you!! omg!! enough words cannot tell you how much i love your blog!! it's simply the best and i always can't wait for your next review. thankyou for all your hard work and keeping me "in the know" with all the beauty products. i think i've written a few times about my "stresses" with chanel. it's definitely been a love/dislike "relationship". i've been wearing chanel for so many years. people think i have a tremendous amount of makeup but, when i purchase, i really use it. right down to a complete silver, empty pan. i purchased 4 items from spring. i told you i really liked the lip color. unfortunately, that's about it. i don't know about this quad for me. if you look at the model's makeup (in the promo ads) the eyes appear, to me, very understated. it seems the lips are what the artist intended as the focal point. i think i need to go to the counter and put the makeup on myself and test it in different lighting and longevity. my favorite look from your blog was when you wore the armani tadzio single shadow. i never had the chance to purchase that. i need a very good neutral quad to wear everyday. i just don't think i'll wear this chanel quad. what's with that white color? it's in a few other quads they have. looking back, i usually hit pan on two colors of the quad and barely use the remainder. i was going to finally purchase tom ford's cocoa mirage but, i need a little bit of sparkle on my eyes. we'll see what the other brands have to offer......xoxo to you!!

    1. Hi Wendy, thanks so much for your kind words about the blog. I appreciate it a lot that you get useful information from what I scribble. I know you buy lots of Chanel and you are careful about your buys. That is great that in the States you can also return things. Here if you use it once, you are stuck with the item *sigh* This quad can be worn in a very understated way. Yes swatching doesn't usually help. you need to try things on with your own brushes and techniques. I think in the states since you can return things, that is not a problem to try at home and return if it doesn't work. Tads is very very nice, you should check it out. It basically applies itself ;-) Which other quads do you have from Tom Ford?

    2. can you believe i do not own 1 quad from tom ford!!! i wanted nude dip soo bad!! i pre-ordered in july at nordstroms. i confirmed with the counter manager about a million times. (maybe that's why i didn't get it because i drove her nuts)!! anyway, they sent me 2 negligee lipsticks instead. i was extremely upset. because i'm very pale they were suppose to send me an alternate blush too and, i didn't get that either! it really messed up "my entire makeup wardrobe for this fall" and, it would off carried me till spring and beyond. i tend to gravitate towards earthy colors. i read all your great reviews on his quads but, i was still indecisive. maybe, for spring he'll have a great quad although, thankyou so much for replying back to me. xo.

  11. p.s. i forgot to answer your questions....no, unfortunately no big plans for the holidays....still single but, if everyone is healthy, feels good that is most important. oh, the other thing that makes you "heads above the rest in the blogging beauty world" is that you take the time to answer your viewer's questions and your time you take to explain how you acheived your FOTD. i really appreciate this soooo much!! and, chanel should be alerted on your reviews because you convinced me to keep all my items.

Chanel is unfortunately not very helpful to me, I don't even receive product infos from them :-(

  12. Hi Sara,
I passed on both quads - though I picked up quite a few other things. After seeing your review, I know that I now have to go back for Tissé Fantaisie. It's not the type of colors that I'm usually drawn to - but that brown - wow. I think it might be worth it just for that. And Chanel's new Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quads are my favorite eyeshadow palette that was released this year. Nothing else really comes close. I like both Tissé Paris and Tissé Fantaisie on you - but maybe you don't like Tissé Paris as much because it isn't as unique. You like to stand out (I think). I am more traditional and low-key, whereas you are more modern and avant-garde (something I really admire about you). Thanks so much for the review.

    1. Hi Jenny,
I have seen your big Chanel haul at Instagram, I think you selected very nice products. I am also very interested in the lipstick you got. I am waiting for your review on this one!
I think you will love Tissé Fantaisie, it is rather subdued on the eyes but it is still unique. LOL you find me modern, thanks so much for that, I am trying to be daring but sometimes the eye shadows I like are the natural ones since it doesn't look too much made-up or artificial, which is a look I don't like all that much, if you know what I mean. There is nothing wrong to like traditional or low-key things as well, those steal my heart too. I think though Tissé Fantaisie pleases both of us ;-)
      *hugs*

  13. ...i forgot something that i wanted to ask you sara!!!! would you be able to recommend a blush color that is similar/comparable to chanel's blush in the shade....reflex? chanel told me that's the blush that was used in the dubai show with the shadow reve d' orient. i found that reflex was discontinued awhile ago at least in the united states. thankyou sara!!!

    1. Hi Wendy, Reflex is a coral with lots of golden shimmer. Something close to Nars Orgasm which I don't have. Also Tom Ford Love Lust is close. I hope that helps.

  14. Thank you so much for your swatches, Sara! This one definitely has my name all over it! I'll be getting it for sure!! Hmm... what to do with that white though? Have a fabulous holiday in Berlin!!

  15. Thank you thank you thank you for the Coup de Foudre comparison!!! I was really wondering about that!

Hope your holidays are splendid! No big plans here, just a few family gatherings. Mostly my goal is just to relax. But I should probably finish cleaning the house first, hahaha!

  16. I'm liking the look of this, though like you say would have preferred a different shade to the white as it can be quite limiting. I'm not sure if I'll pick up the embossed blusher yet though as the ingredients don't look the best for acne prone skin.
