Nars Audacious Lipstick in Dominique, Review, Swatch, Comparison & FOTD

I hope you are all doing great. For me it started getting better after a few days I was feeling like a pile of... ehm... melted lipstick! *grins*

Today I have a quick review of my one and only, first but not the last Nars Audacious Lipstick for you. I have watched in awe how many of these people gathered and presented. All of the reviews were glowing. Since we don't have Nars in Germany, I couldn't run to the counter to swatch and pick up a shade. I thought I should wait until I get to visit Strasbourg, France. They have a Sephora there with a Nars counter. The samples though are usually in very bad condition if they exist at all so it is out of question to try them out. Then Melanie told me she was interested in trying one of the shades, so I also pulled the trigger for one and we ordered from Nars online shop together.

...and of course I had to go for the purple one! Today I present you... *drums* Dominique!

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Dominique

I recall reading somewhere that Dominique was one of the exclusive shades in the States which was sold only in one store. I don't remember which one though and it was written it was hard to get. I can imagine why Nars would make this shade rather limited, because it is something not everyone will like to wear! But me, oh I am so in love!

Dominique is a medium shade which lies perfectly between mauve and purple. Mauve in it makes it wearable and purple makes it unique. The texture is almost like a matte with a tad of sheen. It is very pigmented. With one swipe it is opaque. Look at the arm swatch below to see how well the coverage is. It feels moisturising and comfortable on the lips, wear time is medium, not as long as Chanel Rouge Allure or Tom Ford Lipsticks on me but not bad either.

Swatch: Nars Audacious Lipstick in Dominique

I have tried to find a similar shade in my stash to Dominique but I couldn't even get close. I was thinking Pussy Cat (reviewed here) from Tom Ford Mattes would be close but it is not even in the same color family. MAC Heroine is much brighter in comparison to Dominique. MAC Dodgy Girl (reviewed here) is lighter and more of a lavender.

Comparison: Nars Audacious Lipstick in Dominique vs. MAC and Tom Ford

Below I have combined Dominique with Cle de Peau Satin Moon on the eyes (review coming up soon) and Tom Ford Wicked on the cheeks. I am so obsessed with Wicked at the moment. Lipstick shades like Nars Dominique make me so happy! I am thinking about getting Anna too. It is sometimes a good thing that we don't have a counter close by because it could be very dangerous right before Christmas when the money should well be invested in gifts.

FOTD with Nars Audacious Lipstick in Dominique

This is the last review of a girl before my boys take over. I think you know what I mean.

Final thoughts: Pure love in terms of texture and shade. It looks like Nars nailed it with Audacious.

Have you checked them out? Do you have any/many? Any recommendations?
