Spring came! Ok, I must have became a little exciting after feeling the sun rays on my face for a brief moment today. Spring certainly arrived to the Beauty-Blogosphere though. Each day I am seeing more product-reviews from Spring Collections. Reading them makes me remember of how beautiful it is to see the nature wake up again. Pink and white flowers on the trees. Trees are dressed in green. All together they sing a love song for the rain. You know that feeling? Would you like to have it in form of a palette?

Laura Mercier Watercolour Mist Eye & Cheek Palette comes in a metal compact. The surface has the effect of having water drops. It looks so pretty and also realistic since the drops are scattered very randomly. Inside the compact there are six eye shadows and two blushes. The concept of Laura Mercier Spring Palette is water colours, but her take-on on this topic is not quiet a cheerful one... Laura Mercier Watercolour Mist Palette has foggy pastels for moody spring days of love & rain.

The names are foggy, misty and rainy, the shades are rather moody and all of the textures are are not very soft to touch during swatches but they are pigmented and apply nicely on the eyes, the finishes are all matte.
Sunset (Cheek): A light natural rose flush for the cheeks. It shows quiet well on my NC20 skin but if you have a deeper complexion than, say NC30, it may look a little ashy.
Earth (Cheek): A mid-toned terracotta. I use it to contour or as a bronzer to give some "warmth" to the face. Depending on the lip color I combine it to, it also works as a blush for me. Since this shade is deeper, it would show up on wider range of complexions.

Mist: A mid-toned baby blue without much white in it, which is hard to find. It is a lovely shade to apply all over the lid as a light blue wash of color. I also like combining it with Purple Rain or Cloud for a blue smoky eye.
Fog: A very light warm taupe. It is a great color to blend the edges of your makeup but I also like using it as a mid-shade on the center of the lid. Although it is very light, it shows up very well on me.
Storm: A mid-toned greyish green. This one is not a cheerful pastel green, it has some grey to make it moody enough to fit its name.
Wind: A light lavender, my favorite of the bunch, but you know me, I can't resist a take on rabbit-eye. This one doesn't even give me that, it is so lovely applied all over the lid and the absense of white base here again makes it unique for me.
Purple Rain: Not quiet a purple as the name suggests but it is a mid-toned to deep periwinkle. I use to on the outer corner to define the soft look I can get with the other shades but it can also be applied all over for a "rainy eye".
Cloud: is a deep slate-grey, great to smoke everything out without making it too dark or too defined.

Here is one of the many possible looks. I have used:
Wind on inner corner to the one third of the lid.
Fog on the middle, to show even the lightest shade shows up quiet well
Purple Rain on the outer third of the lid as a soft definition
Cloud on the crease for smoking it out without loosing the soft effect.

I am also wearing:
Sunset on the apples of the cheeks for a fresh look.
Earth as a contouring blush and near to the hair line to warm up the face.
The lipstick I am wearing in this look is MAC Light English Red (lustre) from Prabal Gurung Collection. Here is a last look to Laura Mercier's Watercolour Mist Eye & Cheek Palette. In Germany it will be released in February. Although I don't have information about it, I suspect in the states it is going to be available even before that.

Final thoughts: Can the next trend after smokey eyes be "rainy eyes"? We will wait and see. I like the colour story and the execution of the palette. The shades are pastels but they don't have the heavy white base to them. Together they form a soft but yet defined look. The textures are not very soft to touch but I like the way they don't blend too much into each other, they also don't become muddy. Thumbs up from me if you are in the market for something other than cheerful pastels for spring.
