I am still struggling through my new schedule. I would like to get this very pretty palette posted last night but I was too sleepy to do so. Also over the past days I have noticed that the most important thing that has a big impact on how pretty you look may be free but still hard to get, it is... Sleep!
Do you also notice feeling yourself extra pretty or appearing much better on photos if you had a good night's sleep? I was thinking maybe it is just my mind playing games but photos after a short night's sleep always need more editing. Alright, back to the topic...
Today I have a gorgeous palette to share with you, Lancôme My Paris Eye Shadow Palette. I can't get over the fact that how pretty the packaging is, grey and pink, roses and Eiffel, yay! Pink pumps and black stockings with pink dress, I'd save this one only for drawings. Oh and why does the dog bark to roses? *confused*

The palette is a part of Lancôme's Spring Collection called French Innocence. You can read about the color story and see promo images here. There are also matching nail polishes, lip glosses and eye liners. I am definitely checking them out once the collection hits the counters in Germany.
My French Palette is composed of 7 eye shadow shades and 2 liners, or 9 eye shadow shades, depending on how you would like to use the last two. Once you open the compact, you see the first 6 shades. These are all naturals. Three of them on the left are matte and three on the right are shimmery. Thumbs up for this well thought balance. On the lid there is a removable sticker with instructions of how to use the shades.

We all have nude palettes, don't we, many of them. What is really interesting about My French Palette however is that it introduces a concept of "nudes with a twist" literally with the packaging. Last three shade in the palette are all pops and they are hidden behind a metal lid. Once you open it, you transform the palette into a more colorful one with all the possibilities of mixing layering and matching.

The formula of the eye shadows are very close to Urban Decay Naked Palettes. All the shades are very buttery and nicely pigmented. Mattes show up well on my NC20 complexion, they also show up well on my rather deeper eye lids. The shimmery eye shadows are also very buttery and smooth. The shimmer in these are rather linear but once I applied they didn't look frosty on me.
Neutral shades are as follows:
Left most: A very light neutral pink with matte finish. This shade brightens up without being shimmery and I like using it on my brow bone as a subtle highlight.
2nd from left: Mid-toned mauve pink with matte finish. This one is one of my favorites in the palette. I use it to create a soft crease for a neutral day look, all you have to do is then add one of the shimmery shades on the lid to give you a polished day look.
3rd from left: Light neutral pink with matte finish.I would use this one all over the lid as a base or for a minimal day look.
4th from right: A very light peachy pink with metallic shimmer. This shade is a little too frosty for my taste. I use it on the inner corner sparingly for an inner corner highlight. Alternatively you can apply it all over the lid as a wash of color but I would prefer the other two shades for this purpose.
5th from right: Mid-toned rosy beige with shimmery finish. The shimmer in this one is more subtle than the 4th shade so I am liking it more for all over the lid.
6th from right: Deep neutral bronze with shimmery finish. The shimmer is even subtler than the 5th shade. This is also a gorgeous shade for all over application. I also like using it on the outer half, combined with the 5th shade on the inner half. One of my favorites from My Paris Palette.

Now on to pops. There are three tones of blue under the metal lid. Two of the deeper shades are smaller in size and these are denoted as liners. The consistency of these are a little drier, which you would expect from a liner as they shouldn't fall out.
Left: A mid-toned turquoise with slight yellow-green duo chrome effect and shimmery finish. This shade can be applied densely all over the lid. It can also be padded on one of the neutral shades for a hint of blue. It is really gorgeous, another favorite of mine.
Middle: Deep blue liner with green shimmer which gives a subtle duo-chrome effect. If you go really very simple with the eye look, this can be added as liner for a pop of color.
Right: A very deep blackened blue with subtle shimmer. I have used this one as liner for the look below and it performed very well. I have also applied this lightly on my crease to see how it performs. It worked fine that way too although it doesn't blend very easily, since it is thought to stay in place rather than blend (which would be the requirement for a liner).

There are a range of looks which can be achieved with this palette. A matte neutral look, a shimmery neutral look, a turquoise all the way look. Neutral eye with pop eye liner look, neutral eye with pop along the lower lash line look, you name it. My Paris Eye Shadow Palette is very versatile. I would like to try to use everything at once and by doing that I wouldn't like my colleagues at work get a shock so here is what I came up with...
I applied second shade from left (matte mauve) on the crease, 5th shade (shimmery beige) on the lid layered very lightly with turquoise on top. I also added 6th shade (deep shimmery bronze) on the outer corner and deepened the crease just a little with the liner shades. I also applied the darkest liner along the upper lash line. I found wet application best for this, so sprayed a little bit of MAC Fix+ to my liner brush beforehand. I also applied the lightest shimmery shade on the inner corner as a highlight as well as lightest matte shade under the brow.

For the rest of the face I am wearing NARS Contour Blush in Paloma, Tom Ford Cheek Color in Wicked and NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna. I really enjoyed the resulting soft but not that boring look with My Paris Palette. What do you think?

Final thoughts: For the neutral lovers who would like a palette which would cover their matte and shimmery neutral needs as well as provide a pop of color, make sure to check out Lancôme My Paris Eye Shadow Palette. I found it to be a great one to travel as well since you get Naked Basics, Naked and Vice all at once and comes in a super cute compact.
Availability/Price: Lancôme My Paris Eye Shadow Palette is right now available in the States at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales ($58). It should be released in UK in January and internationally in February. In Germany we should get My French Palette in the beginning of January and it will cost around 55€.
