I hope you are having a good start in the week. After a short weekend (as always) I feel like bringing in some color to cheer us all up. What about green like a precious stone... Jade? Like the one below. No wait, isn't it more of a Khaki? Just let me layer it for you and you will understand.
Today it is again about my favourite Spring Collection, Tom Ford, and one of the Eye Color Duos, #02 Raw Jade.
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo #02 Raw Jade |
I have swatched and fallen in love with all of the three Tom Ford Eye Color Duos for Spring last week. Now I am slowly trying them out to provide you with more information about how they perform on the eyes.Today it is the turn of Tom Ford Eye Color Duo #02 Raw Jade.
Raw Jade offers a khaki green and a very light white with iridescent green in wet & dry formula of Tom Ford. Once these two are layered, it is magical, a very complex beautiful metallic Jade green. I like applying white then wet to intensify the effect exactly at points where I would like to highlight, like middle of the lid or inner corner.

Some of you might have wondered how Raw Jade compares to other Tom Ford greens. You know I am an avid collector of Tom Ford eye shadows so I have pulled out Sahara Haze and Emerald Lust from my stash. Sahara Haze's celestial shade is close to the layered shade of Raw Jade but the light reflecting properties and texture is different. I prefer Raw Jade since I don't have to deal with applying and removing glitter but it still offers breath taking light reflection. The deepest shades are however very different. Sahara Haze has a deep cool brown with gold sparkle but Raw Jade is a khaki with satin metallic finish. Emerald Lust is more teal and cooler in tone than both of these.

On the eyes if you layer the shades, the resulting look is bright but wearable. I found this particular duo more matching to Spring and even Summer since the shade of green is light hearted. I have applied khaki on the outer half, blending until the inner third and added iridescent white green on the inner corner, blending until the half of the lid. With this one you can get a gorgeous gradient effect which you can amplify by adding a touch of wet white-green on the inner corner and blending a little towards the inner one third. Although I find some of the greens hard to wear, I really enjoyed the resulting look.

I have combined a nude lip and light blusher with this look. Below I am wearing Tom Ford Frantic Pink on the cheeks and Tom Ford Peter on the lips. As usual I have also found a matching scarf, hope you like it.

The eye look didn't crease nor faded over 12 hours and counting. It stayed put all day. I am also loving Peter, especially with greens and wear it often with colorful smokey eye. These are still available in the States so you may want to check it out. Recently I have posted a photo at Instagram about the damage Tom Ford's Boy made. I felt good to hear that I am not the only one and ended up ordering one more ;-)

By the way in and out of topic, have you seen the Beautygeeks post on green smokey eyes of Lady Gaga done by Sarah Tanno? Although she didn't use Tom Ford duos for that one, with Raw Jade you can easily get a similar effect, and it is more wearable!
Final thoughts: I am loving Raw Jade too, very much, although my heart always belongs to the purple one.
Green or plum? Or blue? Which is your favourite when it comes to some color on the eyes?
Disclaimer: The product in this post is purchased by me.
Wow, this one looks so lovely too! I pre-ordered Raw Jade and Ripe Plum from the TF website (I'm from Los Angeles, US) ... and so glad you posted the pictures and reviews! I also have Sahara Haze and glad its different! Can't wait to get these!!!
ReplyDeleteOh this is pretty!!! I can't really choose between green and plum tho. Those are my favorite non-neutrals :) I really like how the two shades layered! Very spring-y indeed :)
ReplyDeleteThis suits you really well. However, I'm am glad that plum is on its way to me :D.
ReplyDeleteOMG. It's just arrived and it is ab-so-lute-ly exquisite!!! I like it even more than I thought...even looking forward to getting ready for work tomorrow morning ;)!!.
ReplyDeleteNow if they put Raw Jade and Ripe Plum together in a quad! I WILL BE SO ALL OVER IT! LOL! Great look & review as always, Sara!
ReplyDeleteDer ist wie für Dich gemacht!
ReplyDeleteI love the look you did this with this and I like greens on you. This was the one I picked and can't wait until it gets here. I also saw your Boys on Instagram and went to count mine-- I had never done so-- guess it was denial or something. It's about 10 or 11-- there is one I am still thinking to return. So relieved that you and others had more.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Sara!
ReplyDeleteLove the mixed color so much. This duo suits you beautifully.
Thanks Lena, yes I am loving it too. Not all the greens look good on me, so far loving this
ReplyDeleteLOL Alison, I am glad that you stopped at 10. I started with 7 and should have stopped there but then it went all wrong while reading other blogs and seeing how gorgeous other colors were, rest is history ;-)
ReplyDeleteVielen Dank :-*
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jaa, I would be all over that quad too.
ReplyDeleteAnd... you now inspired me to do a look by mixing the two!
Hi Bella,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you liked it! Isn't it so pretty! I am so in love with the plum one, I am thinking if someday they take all my palettes but one, Ripe Plum would be the one I keep.
Hi Sunny,
ReplyDeleteyes I am loving it too, more springy than plum but my heart always beats for the plum ;-))
Hi Christy,
ReplyDeleteyou did great, you will love both of them. Let me know after you try them out. Make sure you try it wet too, it is so gorgeous like that.
This green looks beautiful on you! I also love the look you did with Ripe Plum. I think both of these look great, but I love purples so I'm biased :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look GORGEOUS! this shade of green really makes your eye colour pop, the effect is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am usually a little bit wary of wearing green eyeshadows, I love purple the most. But greens work for you so well and emphasize your eye color! Simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nati, it would look gorgeous on you as well
ReplyDeleteThanks so much :-* If I had to choose I would get the plum one as well!
ReplyDeleteOoh, pretty! Green tones really suit you and I love shades like this for Springtime :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sara, i think this one looked better on you than on me! And i'm amazed... how many scarves do you own?!?! MORE TF Boy?!?!??
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeletethis one is soo pretty and spring ready!
LOL for the scarfes, I own many ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes more TF boys, just one more than one more again. I am doomed.
I can't wait to see Raw Jade on you, I am sure it looks amazing.
So freakin' gorgous! I love that khaki. I think it looks great on you, Sara :).
ReplyDeleteOk. I want it. I was sure I am going to skip those, but now I want the green one. Or I go for Sahara Haze. Ordered a green Suqqu (17) btw. YOUR FAULT!!
ReplyDeleteLOL Andreea, I am taking all the blame about Suqqu ;-)
ReplyDeleteGet this one, not Sahara Haze. Seriously, this one rocks... But just a second you told me you like soft eyes... Hmmm... Maybe Sahara Haze then.
Thanks Aida :-***
ReplyDeleteThese duos are so fascinating! I want them all - can't have any, but still want it.
ReplyDeleteSo I put on Sahara Haze today to see if I need another Tom Ford green in my life-this seems quite fresh on your eyes ones the two shades are mixed -Sahara haze looks more olive?? Mmmmm
