Estée Lauder Lipsticks Envy Shine in Inspiring, Pure Color Envy in Insolent Plum, Review, Swatch, Comparison & FOTD

I don't know where the weekend go? Yesterday I was still feeling a little under the weather, with a bad headache, today I thought I am better but slowly I am feeling a little throat tickling? Let's see... Does anyone else have everyone sick at work and home?

Maybe you won't believe it but I haven't tried the highly praised Estée Lauder Envy Lipsticks until lately. Recently when they released the Envy Shine version of the formula, I got to test both of them. Today I would like to share my thoughts with you. I have Estée Lauder Lipsticks Envy Shine in Inspiring, and Pure Color Envy in Insolent Plum for you.

Estée Lauder Lipsticks Envy Shine in Inspiring, Pure Color Envy in Insolent Plum

Estée Lauder Lipsticks Envy Shine in Inspiring is a milky reddish pink tone. On my lips it looks more like a mid-toned warm pink but on the swatches it almost looks like a understated coral tone. The formula reminds me of more pigmented versions of Rouge Coco Shines from Chanel. I found Estée Lauder Envy Shine in Inspiring to have a little less slip therefore it stays put on the lips for longer and doesn't move around as much as Chanel Coco Shines do on me. I really like the formula and hoping to pink up some more once they hit the counters here.

Here is me wearing Inspiring. I didn't think this rather warm tone would look nice on me but once applied it is a lovely warm pink which I can see myself wearing with stronger or natural eye looks alike. It is not a nude but it is a very easy to wear color for me.

I tried to find similar colors in my stash and I filled the back of my hand swatching and trying out but it turns out I don't have anything similar. The reason might be because I don't gravitate towards reddish or warmer shades. The closest I found in my stash were Guerlain Kiss Kiss in Pinky Groove (reviewed here), which has more of a frosty finish than "shine" and I certainly prefer shine to frost. I also tried tens of Chanel Rouge Coco Shines but didn't find something very close. Closest it got was Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Suspense (reviewed here) which is cooler.

The color I got to try out from Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy lipstick line is a lovely plummy pink. The shade and the formula is without hesitation love at first sight for me. For me most of the deep plums are way too red and Insolent Plum, which pulls more purple on me without being yet not too purple is a real winner. The formula is flawless. I now understand why everyone ended up with so many shades from this line. It is very lightweight, is pigmented and very long lasting. I applied it in the morning (1st layer blotted, second layer straight from the bullet) and ate a lunch in between. After lunch there was a lovely homogenous stain all over the lip. This lasted on me 3 more hours before it faded. Those type of deep plum shades are usually hard to get right and all thumbs up from me for Estée Lauder Insolent Plum.

Here is me wearing Estée Lauder Insolent Plum together with an otherwise natural eye look and minimal blush. It is of course a statement lip, almost as attention catching as a red but I prefer violets. Probably I am in minority here though. Longevity is very important for me since I am not big on touch ups. This is why I know though I am definitely getting more colors from the line. For this one all thumbs and toes up!

I love plummy pinks so I had a few similar colors which I could pull out for comparison. MAC Fashion Revival is deeper and matte but similar. Tom Ford Black Orchid is deeper and warmer. Tom Ford Didier (Moroccan Rouge) is warmer. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Emotion is also redder and more transparent. In all these shades I prefer Insolent Plum, I think I am seriously in love.

The packaging of both lines, Estée Lauder Lipsticks Envy Shine and Pure Color Envy are close but the packaging of Envy Shines are slimmer. The bullets are also different, Shines have a flatter cut. Both have magnetic closure and very chic golden/navy packaging.

Final thoughts: Now I know what the fuzz is about, two of the Estée Lauder Envy Lipsticks I got to try are both phenomenal, both in Shine and Pure Color versions. I now have to check out the rest of the line to see if this is consistent. All thumbs up these two!

Have you tried Estée Lauder Lipsticks Envy lines?
