Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm Sweet Guava and Creamsicle, Review, Swatch & FOTD

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great start in the weekend. Although there is nothing particularly exciting happened, I feel super positive and full of energy for the days to come. This might have to do with having started to exercise again. I always had the feeling that I have a more positive outlook on things if I regularly exercise. It is a good motivation to keep on moving. Plans for today is to take a few blog photos, zumba, take a shower, get pretty, go to the city to pick up a few dresses which I ordered online, try and cry (if they don't look good or if I don't fit in it), play with Chanel Les Beiges Collection at the counter, have a nice dinner in the town with hubby. That is about it, what are your plans for today?

Today I have a new lipstick formula to share with you. Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalms are already out in the States and will be available in the beginning of July in Germany. I tried two of the shades, Sweet Guava and Creamsicle during the last weeks. Here are my thoughts about them.

Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm Sweet Guava and Creamsicle

Let's talk packaging first. Lip Parfaits come in very deep brown/burgundy cases which reminds me of Laura Mercier Cream Smooth Lip Colours but these are slimmer. The top of the lipstick is cut straight in a modern way. I don't know what you think about straight cuts but sometimes I find it hard to apply to the corners. Advantage with that is though that you have a slimmer case but still good amount of product. While Creme Smooths are $27 for 4 g/0.14 Oz ($6.75 per gram), Lip Parfaits have 3.5 g/0.12 Oz of product and cost $25 ($7.14 per gram). I believe the reason behind the price increase is that Lip Parfaits have more nourishing ingredients.

These are click closed but appears to be safe. Once you remove the cap, you can see Laura Mercier's signature on the metallic looking tube. I like this gimmick, it looks very pretty. All in all the packaging is practical, light but not cheap looking.

Lip Parfaits are released in twelve shades and all of the, will be available in Germany. Here is a list of available shades:

Cinn-ful, Amaretto Swirl, Pink Grapefruit, Sweet Guava, Raspberry Ripple, Red Velvet, Tutti Frutti, Cherries Jubilee, Iced Pomegranate, Creamsicle, Juicy Papaya, Cherry-on-top

Oh how I get hungry writing these. *winks* I tried to select colors from the promo photos but again I failed and ended up with a red which I don't think I will use all that often. Creamsicle is a gorgeous mid-toned peach. I love peach/purple combination at the moment so I reached for this one very often last week. Sweet Guava is a juicy blue based red. Both of the shades are glossy but not overly so. The swatches below are done with one pass, they are nicely pigmented and very hydrating. Just a small amount feels so creamy and hydrating over the lips.

There is a faint perfume which is something like vanilla but very subtle. There is no taste which I can detect which is great because I don't like lipsticks with taste. Now on to shades and how they wore on me.

Swatch: Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm Sweet Guava and Creamsicle

Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Sweet Guava wouldn't be a shade I would select if I would swatch them before deciding. I was expecting a coral from the name. Anyhow I don't know why I can't make reds work on me. They drain me like no other color, although mind you I put lots of blush. I have to experience more about that, any tips are welcome. Anyhow the shade is really pretty (on others it would look much better) and it is very pigmented. My main issue with the formula is the longevity since after a coffee I need to reapply it. But with very hydrating formulas I believe it has to be expected.

You can see rest of the make-up listed here. I am wearing D&G Cream Eye Shadow in Dahlia on the eyes and Dior Tie & Die Coral Sunset (reviewed here) on the cheeks.

FOTD: Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm Sweet Guava

Now on to the one I love, Creamsicle is a perfect peachy nude to couple with a peachy purply look like the one I have here. I am wearing Suqqu Trio Ex-01 Benikakesora (reviewed here) on the eyes. I applied the deeper shade lightly all over and layered the peach in the middle. I loved this eye look I was wearing yesterday. More on what else I used here. On my cheeks I have Dior My Lady #007 which combines perfectly with Creamsicle. I believe coral/peach would be all good to go.

Lip Parfaits are formulated without parabens and mineral oils. You can see the rest of the ingredients in the photo below.

You can check out mel-et-fel for the swatches of two other shades Cherries Jubilee, Raspberry Ripple.

Final thoughts: Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalms manage to combine light and very hydrating texture with lots of pigment. I am impressed with two of the shades I tried so far, will be checking out more once they are released. If it would last a little longer, it might be my all time favorite formula but the good news is that after you apply it for the second time or blot and apply again, longevity improves a lot. All in all thumbs up!

Have you tried Laura Mercier Lip Parfaits yet? What is the hole grail hydrating/nourishing formula you are loving at the moment?

  1. Oh, the weekends of women who don't have children LOLOL! I can only dreeeaaaam ;). At least I wasn't freezing at the hockey field at the crack of dawn this morning because the season is over!
I think Sweet Guava looks great on you; I actually like it more on you than the other one!!! But they are both lovely :). Enjoy the weekend; hope you can wear one of your dresses and the Chanel Les Beiges collection out tonight. Just add a bold lip ;) LOL!

  2. I was thinking the exact me thing (LOL). I also really like the Sweet guava on you. It doesn't drain you at all. And doesn't look that blue toned either (I also have problems with blue toned reds, but with the more warm ones I'm afraid they make my teeth look yellow). I also love that they are parabens and mineral oil free. I haven't found my hole grail yet. Actually next week I hope to receive the RMK bright lipsticks you reviewed a few weeks ago. They kept on my mind because they were so pretty on you and we have the same skin tone.

  3. Both are very pretty on you! I prefer lippies with slanted tips because the flat tip can make it hard to apply to corners

  4. They both look great on you, Sara! I'm never attracted to L. Mercier counters. I know they have great products but I never gravitate towards them.

  5. As usual I love both on you and from the sound of it the formula is rrrrright up my alley! Nice!

  6. LOL Sara, you said you can't make reds work, but Sweet Guava looked amazing on you in the picture above!! Ok, but that's what everybody tells me when I talk about deep berry shades... I think the trick for making it work for camera versus real life is we are so used to seeing heavily made-up looks in print, but not walking down the street. So for daily wear, I dab my reds and berry shades instead of swiping them full on... that way I get a sheer stain, and maybe pop some gloss over? Or go where the Koreans are now... keep everything simple - luminous dewy skin, no eye makeup except black liner, and a full-on pout (or make it ombre if you feel like it).

  7. I agree with Linda - Sweet Guava looks great on you! Believe it or not, I haven't really explored much of Laura Mercier stuff. I'll be browsing their products, and then get distracted by another brand. Hahaha!

  8. Hahaha Bella you always crack me up. It is great that the season is over, hope it won't start soon ;-) Thanks, I know what you mean, I have to get used to brighter bolder lips but since usually I pack lots of eye make-up, I don't have many opportunities to try it out. If I wear smoky eye bold lip combo to work, I am afraid (almost all male) engineers at work can get into shock hahaha.
Hope you had fun out dancing!

  9. Hi Gosia,
It is good to steer away from one or a few counters for the sake of our wallet. There are a few holy grail products in the line though, such as their concealer and caviar sticks.

  10. Hi Katherine,
I also prefer slanted tips, these are harder to apply, you are right. It works for super sheer lipsticks but with color, it gets harder.

  11. I think you'd love the formula. Thanks so much :-*

  12. Hi Mirjam
yes Sweet Guava is not very blue toned, it is more of a natural bright red.
I am so intrigued how you will like the RMK ones, let me know. Which shades have you ordered?

  13. I've heard great things about these- they look perfect for summertime! I think both shades look totally lovely on you, but I can see why you love Creamsicle best :)

  14. I've ordered vivid pink and deep rose 😄. They were gorgeous on you and wearable for a day look.

  15. I'll quit lurking and comment to say that I think you look great in red! BUT then I looooove reds and have many thoughts about them. :)

I think reds work well on porcelain pale faces like mine and also very drop skin tones, and everything in between --but I do think for best results, the skin hue should be balanced and neutral. Blush should be minimal, bronzer should be avoided (or at the very least applied very evenly, allover), and contouring is generally more of a distraction than help. Put it this way: if there are many interesting zones of various colors happening on your face already, bright red is just going to compete, and both the red and the face will suffer.

Maybe try what I taught a few friends of mine: do your eyes, put on foundation/concealer, but do NOT use blush, bronzer, or highlighter (etc) on until after the red lipstick. The red will guide your hand, and you'll know when you've hit the sweet spot! :)

Incidentally, I found your blog originally looking for swatches of Guerlain KissKiss in "Love Kiss" (yes, the less popular red in the collection). I bought it and ADORE it, so many thanks!

  16. I am not sure someone can tell you anything new about makeup, Sara :) If I would have your complexion, I would try a warmer, deeper, and more pigmented shade (perhaps a muted red for the day) and skip all the eyeshadow contouring and lining, only mascara and beige eyeshadow (no "eye shaping") only a touch of bright blush. This worked for me. Also I figured that I like red lipsticks only if they are matte. Chanel and By Terry are my favorite red matte lipsticks, also want one from TF and D&G. There are so many red matte options now :) I would maybe start trying the color with cheap L'Oreal matte (their celebrity collection) or Mac matte lipsticks. They are not as good in quality but for trying out the color "in field" why not.
As for Laura Mercier... I am sure this is a great lipstick, but after reaching about 200+ lipsticks and glosses I decided to only buy lip products with spf (as most of mines are without) and in reasonable quantities because spf filters expire after a year of opening. These ones do not offer a sun protection (checked the ingredients). So I may buy some Rodial sheer spf lipsticks this summer and repurchase spf lipsticks from By Terry and Fresh next year. I don't like applying an spf balm underneath because the already sheer and balmy lipstick appears then even sheerer and balmier and is also too much work to reapply.

  17. I think both colours look amazing on you! I like the sound of the formula and it's something I'd be really interested in trying as they seem pretty pigmented even if longevity is s bit of an issue. I much prefer a creamy or more hydrating lip product than a matte even if I have to touch up more often.

  18. Creamsicle is super pretty on you! I like the sound of these, I've not seen these yet so will look out for them when I am next at the counter.

  19. Hi Linda,
thanks so much for the tips. I know what you mean with the stain. But this one isn't a creamy classical lipstick so doesn't really leave anything behind. Minimal/no eye makeup is very important, which I am very bad at lol. I will try these out and let you know :-*

  20. Hi Lily,
    thanks so much :-**
There are way too many brands at the moment out there right, and there are so many pretties. We are not the one to blame hahaha

  21. Hi Jenni,
I can totally see Creamsicle looking super juicy and pretty on your lips. If you ever try the formula, let me know what you think of it.

  22. Hi Tessa,
first of all thanks for your comment. I live through the comments and super excited when I see new readers leaving one.

Reds certainly work great with light complexions. Your tips about keeping everything very minimal are very helpful. I am not good at minimal eye makeup, maybe you have recognized ;-) This is something I have to learn.

I am so glad that my swatches were helpful to you. I hope there are other swatches which you also enjoy or some reviews you like.
Love your nick, haha red lipstick maniac, hilarious!
Hope to read you again :-**
