I hope you survived the first day of the week. They say starting is the half way to the finish, so now we are almost finished *wink wink*. On Sunday I will fly to holiday, I can't wait but I have to finish with documentation before quitting, boooh.
You might have seen that yesterday I shared some pictures of epic Chanel-heavy USA haul at Instagram and Facebook. Today I would like to write about my first impressions and show you some swatches. I started testing the eye products today so in a few days there will be full reviews. I will post about the nail polishes in a separate post. My haul concentrates on eye & cheek products since I have a strange habit of not buying lipsticks without trying. Considering that the collection will be out on the 10th of October in Germany, I will have to wait quite long before completing the look. I might just go ahead and get a few from abroad in the meanwhile.
Chanel Les Automnales Collection for Fall 2015 |
There are two Illusion D'Ombres which come with this collection. #97 New Moon from last year's summer collection (reviewed here) is repromoted. That one is a little bit of a glitter bomb on its own but if you add just a tiny bit over any other look, you get diamonds in your eyes, very pretty. Just to warm you though, it looks like it is not going to be re-released in Germany so you may want to call your aunt who lives in the States if you are eyeing it ;-)
Chanel Les Automnales Illusion D'Ombres, #97 New Moon, #106 Fleur de Pierre, #116 Rouge-Gorge |
The black eye shadow is a new formula called Illusion D'Ombre Velvet, the shade is called #106 Fleur de Pierre. It is not a "matte" eye shadow but has considerably less shimmer compared to other Illusion D'Ombres. I am going to compare it against Mirifique later on after I wore them to test too. By the way my Fleur de Pierre came stuck to the cap, lol, this formula is really funny. I had to shake it for it to fall down in the pot. Illusion D'Ombre #116 Rouge-Gorge is not defined as "velvet" but has a similar texture to Fleur de Pierre. It is one shade I can't wait to put on my eyes. I believe it can be the killer for blue eyes. The subtle pink shimmer in this one is really gorgeous and the shade is so unique!

Another stunner of the collection is a new blush, Chanel Joues Contraste #260 Alezane. Chanel has one of my favorite blush textures and this one is just so stunning if you don't mind a little shimmer. On the cheeks the shimmer is rather subtle. In many press material the name of the blush is given as Jinsha but the number is the same so I believe we are talking about the same product. The burnt/rusty rosewood (is there a color like this?) shade is to die for, very pretty especially for Fall.

Now one piece all green eyes beauties should grab is this one here, Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in #918 Ardent, a shimmery copper. It is super pretty once applied on the waterline and it lasts all day long without fading. I am definitely getting a back-up of this one since it is limited edition. I use these eyeliners very often and in the past finished many of them.

There are two palettes in this collection. I was pondering which one to get and decided for Entrelacs because the design is so pretty, it is impossible to say no to that. It is usually easy for me to say no to a khaki quad but then I have seen swatches. That copper shade, it made my heart skip a beat...
Chanel Les 4 Ombres #254 Tissé D'Automne |
Chanel Les 4 Ombres #254 Tissé D'Automne is not a classical khaki palette. It has a beautiful coppery bronze and a lovely pink so it is a very versatile pretty. As a plus it comes in one of the best formulas in the market for me right now, Chanel Tissé layers beautifully, has a very complex multi dimensional shimmer and they are usually very pigmented. I wore this one today and I am so in love. A detailer review is coming very soon.

Now on to one product which was very disappointing at the moment I swatched it. Chanel Eyeshadow Palette in Entrelacs has super pretty shades and a breathtaking beauty. But once I ran my fingers on the surface, there was almost no color. And I was really not being shy. The left most and the right most shades were the worst in terms of color pay-off. I am guessing, there might be a preserving overspray to that, similar to the one over the Spring Blush Camelia Rose (reviewed here) for the pattern not to get lost after the first usage. I hope that is the case because I buy make-up to use, not to watch. The below swatches are with multiple (10?) swipes! I will report on that after I try it on my eyelids. Meanwhile check out the review of Linda here. She seems to like it, so this gives me hope *winks*

Final thoughts: As for the first impressions, Tissé D'Automne Quad and Alezane Blush are to die for together with the Stylo Jeux #918 Ardent, the latter being especially flattering for green eyes. Eyeshadow Palette in Entrelacs is super pretty in the pan but once swatched, it was rather disappointing. I am hoping it will apply better than it swatches. I will report back soon once I get these all around my eyes ;-)
What are you eyeing from this collection?
Disclaimer: The products in this post were purchased by me.
Hey Sara, thanks for the swatches and first impression! I'm with you: I'm drooling over the quad and the blush the most! It's funny because you know the shrinking thing some Illusion d'Ombres do? I've really only had that problem with New Moon, and I can see this one is doing that as well! It doesn't seem to perform differently from what I see tho.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your beautiful swatches. I'm definitely tempted by the quad, Ardent eyeliner and the blush. I wonder if the baked version will be very similar in shade. I'm really looking forward to seeing the eye looks you'll have created. They're always stunning.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, if you've had a chance to try the Cosmopolite Illuminating Powder from Dior, would you still recommend it? Do you think it'd suit complexion with pink undertones? Many thanks.
Well, the swatch of the green eye shadow is my favorite. That would look beautiful with the Feuilles eyeliner for the green girls. But I am thinking it is in the zone of TF Jade Green so maybe no need to buy the quad for that shade. Can't wait to see the coppery look you do with Ardent and the copper shade.
ReplyDeleteUp until reading this I had my heart set on getting Entrelacs, but seeing your review and also the stunning swatches of Tissé D'Automne, I think this one has to be mine!!

I hope you are right about the Entrelacs Palette! I choose this one and the lovely blush. I haven't touch them yet because I have to take the pictures first. I also want the red Rouge Coco Shine.
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of that last palette, everything in this collection looks gorgeous!! I can't wait to see your reviews.
ReplyDeleteWell I was planning to get Entrelacs but maybe not now, will see how it performs on your lids. I really like the look of the blush, not sure it would be the right colour on me though, maybe I'm too cool toned for it. Thanks for giving us your thoughts on these x
ReplyDeleteOh nice! I am so into Chanel recently, especially after I solved my never ending quest for a foundation, just by trying VitaLumiere Acqua! I think I will be a bit conservative this Fall and buy stuff from a couple of brands only, so I have to do good research, but so far it looks like this collection is going to be number one on my list for eyes. So, really looking forward to these cream shadows and the khaki palette! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the peachy cream eyeshadow! Unfortunately the palettes are not impressive to me :(
ReplyDeleteI want the peach cream eyeshadow and the copper liner
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the waterproof liners. I might get the orange cream shadow and new moon.
ReplyDeleteI am eyeing pretty much EVERYTHING in this collection...bye bye money.;) Entrelacs was on my absolute must-have list, but now I'm not so sure after reading your review. I had assumed that Tisse D'Automne would be too warm for me, but now I might check it out in person before dismissing it completely. I passed up New Moon last summer, but I might pick it up this time around because everyone seems to love it so much (I easily buy in to the mob mentality, it seems).
ReplyDeleteA bit sad to see the Entrelacs is so disappointing in reality but I intend to buy heavily from this collection - so many great Autumn colours!
ReplyDeleteI bought Tissé D'Automne and the pencil in Feuille and what a stunning autumn combination it is! Because there are two neutrals in the quad, it is very versatile and will take you from intense forest greens to burnished neutrals with a hint of green. However you choose to use it, it is autumn perfection. As for Feuille, it is a blackened green that enhances the look of the quad without being obviously green. It glides on super smooth, has a bit of smudge time, and then sets. It also helps anchor the deep green in the quad which is a very soft shadow.
ReplyDeleteThe whole collection is a bit too warm for me, but I do love the look of the quad. And thanks for slaying my lemmings for the quint! I figured it would be another warm neutral palette but still the look of it is hard to ignore, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm still bitter since the Blue collection never made it to the U.S., and pretending that I am not looking at the autumn collection. LOL
Rouge Gorge immediately stood out for me! And Tissé D'Automne looks beautiful. Yep, these are definitely my colors.
ReplyDeleteI know New Moon was released previously but it's absolutely stunning! And the blush is to die for!
ReplyDeleteAnd now i think i really want Rouge Gorge IllusionD'Ombre ! This collection grew little by little on me and now i want almost everything except from Entrelacs! I am disappointed from the swatches i've seen but i don't know if i will manage to resist the wonderful design in person !
ReplyDelete10th of October??!!! .....Is it Chanel Christmas collection for Europe? I am buying only few LEs now anyway, but I insist on my right to check it out:) I had high hopes for both palettes and first is too warm for me and second looks different than what I expected, but we are waiting for your review!
ReplyDeleteHi Sara, i'm sorry to hear Entrelacs did not live up to your expectation. I do love that blush and am also eyeing that orange IdO! Thank you so much for your link love! :**
ReplyDeleteYes, I am still waiting for the Blue collection too because this collection is too warm for me as well. The green in the quad is tempting me. I tried Alezane today which everyone on earth is raving about and it's almost funny. I layered it on and it looked as if I was not wearing any blush. I am neutral-NC fair and it just merged into my natural cheek color and disappeared. Poof!
ReplyDeleteHi Lena, I am sure that blues will look fab on you.
ReplyDeleteChanel will bring the blue collection here in August and this is why we are waiting for the Fall collection until October. I don't really know if you would like to be in our place ;-)
Entrelacs is really not worth it. I am glad to kill your lemming there.
Hi Alison,
ReplyDeleteit is so funny that the blush got lost. Hahaha. It is pretty dense though, so you have a good deal of nice flush on your cheeks. My cheeks never had flush so all the blushes show up nicely on me lol.
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteis the collection released there yet? How lucky you are to get Blue collection and this collection released so early. It seems in most of the places only one is released. Here none at the moment. I think you should check out the green quad, it is killing me in a good way.
This was exactly my reaction to the release date. I though they release their holiday collection then. No need to rush really (unless you are a blogger booh). I will also try rest of the collection although I know I need the deep red Rouge Coco Shine. The khaki quad is really not that warm. Just posted about it. Palette with 5 colors? Sigh, not loving it but I recall you are fair, so these may show up on you much better than they do on me.
ReplyDeleteHi Hara,
ReplyDeletetry to stay away, it is really not worth it. But the quad, you need! Liners are super pretty too, just saying. Blush is really nice. Rouge Gorge is a very unique color, would love to see your eyes with that.
Hi Agata,
ReplyDeleteyes these two are items which are so pretty, you have a very good taste :-*
Those two are definitely your colors. You would love Rouge Gorge, it is so much fun. And khaki would look stunning on you.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeletegreat picks, I will definitely pick up the rest of the liners once the collection is released. I know there are mixed reviews about Stylo Yeux but I use them everyday and love how long lasting and easy to use they are. Quad is so beautiful and very versatile as you described. It is definitely my favorite product in this collection.
Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteloving autumn colors. Especially the quad, you will love it I know. Palette is good for a very soft neutral eye but we all have very similar colors and it doesn't stand out in my book. I can't wait to see what you will buy.
Great picks!
ReplyDeleteHi Gosia,
ReplyDeleteI hope New Moon will be released in UK because in Germany it won't be released. I am wearing Orange cream shadow at the moment, it is such a fun shade!
Hi Katrin,
ReplyDeletequad is really stunning in person, but depend on your shade preference of course.
LOL Jess for being mobbed not to have New Moon. I would love to hear your thoughts about Entrelacs after you try it out at the counter, please let me know. It is nice if you want something barely visible, polished look kind of, not my type of look but I imagine some may like it.
ReplyDeleteThis a beautiful lipstick, an unusual shade, is probably on everyone's wishlist now. I like sheer eyeshadows, but they must be very blendable then and it is not clear yet. There was so much hype...
ReplyDeleteHi Eleni,
ReplyDeleteVitalumiere Aqua is also one of my favorite foundations. Khaki Palette is to die for, just posted about it hope it helps. Cream eye shadows have a nice texture but the shades are a little weird. I like unusual but not sure how to wear these, especially the orange one lol.
Ah I love the swatches of the quad! Looks like something I'd wear regularly. I thought the Entrelacs looked nice, but after seeing the swatches, it's nothing special. I need to try these Chanel quads one day. Just can't decide which one to get.
ReplyDeleteI am looking at this palette and I understand what is annoying me in it - this yellow green color at the top (I have it in Cle De PEau Stardust and it is ugly). The rest is nice. Why is this color there or why is there one unfitting warm or cool color in almost every Chanel palette? My guess is that by doing so they try to maximize their profit by making the product appealing to more different color types, but they minimize the value for me because out of 4 shades in every of their recent palettes I can not use at least one, sometimes 2. If they are unable to decide whether they do it for warm or cool color type, why don't they just create something neutral?
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm tempted by all three of those Illusion d'Ombres! Thanks for the swatches! xo
ReplyDeleteOhhh and ahhhhhh!! I can't wait to see Rouge-Gorge in action, Sara! What a unique shade! I bet you're right, it would look stunning on blue eyes! I hope you come up with a super awesome look! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame about the palette. 10 swipes to get that kind of color payoff? I think I'll just wait for your full review before I splurge!
Hi Sara , just wondered if you knew the release date for this collection in the UK ? Also do you know if New Moon is being re-released in the UK ? Thanks so much :D
ReplyDeleteHello Sara,
ReplyDeleteFirst things first, you are my hero for getting almost the entire collection.
I was at Macy's yesterday and viewed this collection and I must say the stand out products are the blush (really a beautiful rose) and the Stylo (which was not at my counter).
I'm sort of over the Illusion D'Ombre, but Rouge Gorge is…well gorgeous. Well done as usual. I can't wait to see Gorge against your beautiful eyes.
-Maria
Hi Tracey,
ReplyDeleteI replied these on my latest post but here to you once more. In Europe New Moon is not being released again but sometimes UK is an exception so let's hope for that. Release date of the collection is mid-August, in Covent Garden, it will be a week before.
I am loving Tissé D'Automne, and Entrelacs, don't know... I think it was rather a wrong purchase for me.
ReplyDeleteI know I am late to this party, but today I was in the store, wanted to buy Alezane, and they advised against it, because it's got so muc sparkle in it, that it would make me look like a discoball. The sales people were really negative about it, so I didn't buy it.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your opinion?
Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteI think Alezane looks sparkly in the pan but once applied, I don't see any of that disco ball effect. There is maybe one two glitter once the sun shines directly on your cheeks but nothing more. I don't think it is too shimmery. Wouldn't you like to try on?
