Origins Sensory Therapy Piece of Mind, Zero Oil Instant Matte Finish, Review

I hope you are having a great week. It is almost hump day! I know it is easy to say that for me since I am on holiday and basically every day of the week is weekend. I have two more weeks and I am enjoying it to the fullest. Before starting off with the rest of the Fall Collection reviews, I would like to give heads up to those of you who are still fighting the heat. In Stuttgart this Summer was very hot and humid. There are countries around the world who always have it "hot" but in Germany most of the buildings, including offices don't have air condition so you can imagine how it smells is like when it is 40 °C. I found some ways to cope up with the heat and go on testing my make-up regardless. I would like to share two products I enjoyed most, before Fall comes. So here comes a mini review of Origins Sensory Therapy Piece of Mind and Zero Oil Instant Matte Finish.

Origins Sensory Therapy Piece of Mind, Zero Oil Instant Matte Finish

I got to know both of the products at the brand new counter in Frankfurt Douglas. I was invited to the opening event of the counter and had the pleasure to get to know CEO of Origins, Stéphane who explained how the counter is designed and the story it tells in detail.  It shows how the natural essential oils become products. If you are in the area, I recommend you strongly to visit Douglas Zeil 98, second floor and check out how impressive it is. I included a few images in this post for the others who can't make it. Do you have a similar Origins counter in your area?

Back to two of the products I am enjoying at the moment...

Origins Sensory Therapy Piece of Mind

This one is a surprise favorite. It is a tiny serum to give you a moment of refreshment in case you are stressed. When it was introduced like this, I knew I would like it but I didn't think that I would become so addicted. More specifically it consists of rose flower water and pepper mint leaf water, eucalyptus dives oil and basil oil, in summary everything which smells divine.

It is recommended that you take a tiniest amount of it and massage it to your neck and temples. In about 2-3 minutes, it starts getting cooler. I tried this one as a "treat" to my colleagues at work  (all men). After the first usage, they wanted the name to buy one for themselves. Stress relief is something it might be doing but the best thing is feeling cooled down in a minute which lasts to an hour. I put one of that next to my bed and used it when it was too warm and humid to sleep. It helped a lot.

One thing to warn though, this one is real thing, don't underestimate. If you have sensitive skin, go easy on that or you might end cooling down a bit too much and it might get unpleasant. I also found out that it is something you get used to. When it was applied to me at the counter, I found it to be not very pleasant during the first ten minutes but now I can't do without it. It is about finding the right amount.

Origins Sensory Therapy Piece of Mind is formulated without parabens, phthalates, PABA, mineral oil, parafin, petrolatum, DEA, synthetic color, synthetic fragrance, propylene glycol and animal ingredients.

Zero Oil Instant Matte Finish

I usually don't have to use setting powder over my foundation with my normal to dry skin but once it is too hot, I get shiny even with my complexion. This is a tiny bottle you can sneak in your bag, instead of the blotting papers. It is very easy to use and it is very effective.

In the container you can see powder like particles sinking (but it contains no talc) so it is best to start the application by shaking it well. It does the job by oil-absorbing minerals so once the minerals dissolve, I get a bit of that in my palm, bring my both palms together. I then apply it by just lightly touching my palm on my face.  It creates a matte to satin looking finish for some hours. I don't like carrying powder around and I yet have to get used to blotting papers but this one got me hooked. Highly recommended!

Soon I will report about a few masks and creams from Origins line which are currently being tested. Just as a spoiler, I enjoyed Clear Improvement Mask after I got millions of spots by summer sweating. This one works like a charm on me and clears my skin while not drying it. More about it later on.

Do you like Origins Skin Care? Any products you can recommend me?

  1. Thanks, Sara. Excellent post.

Although it is something that I sometimes overlook, I am aware that scientific studies show that much of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bodies-- and when you read the ingredient lists, it's a little (oops!)

That is why I mostly use products with healthier ingredients for skin care, foundation, and sunscreen which cover a wider area. I had seen the Origins line but never tried it so I really appreciate this post. The powder in particular is of interest. Even though I don't have oily skin, I use a lot of skin care and sunscreen and hence am always a bit "dewy" so this sounds like a very helpful product. Looking forward to the learning more about the skin care products.
