Another week ended *pats herself on the shoulder, opens a champagne and relaxes*
Gosh, you know what happened today? Actually I was wearing the eye shadow palette I will show you today, nude makeup mostly because my lipstick was not reapplied and I was kind of casual chic for work, you know shirt trousers, blouse etc. After work, I went to the shopping center but although I tried really hard, I couldn't buy anything, nothing seemed to work so I decided to buy some nice roses for home and head back home. At the parking lot I just put the roses in the trunk and a guy approached me and asked me if he could invite me for a Prosecco. I was like ?!?! for a moment then I told him I was married *cough cough* and he said thank you and kindly went away. I am wondering if that had to do with me buying roses for myself, he thought I was alone haha. Anyway I felt like a teen girl again lol. It was definitely a confidence booster ;-)
When I first see the Le Rouge Collection of Esteé Lauder all I wanted to do was to sing ♫"Roxane... You don't have to put on the red lights!".♫... *hums a tune* ♫ Put on the red lights! Put on the red lights! I hate 80s but love love this song! (just checked because it is not 80s but 78 hah!)
Together with the third version of Modern Muse, Le Rouge Eau de Parfum, there are also limited edition make-up products in the collection. Those come in chic red packaging, which is so appropriate for the season. Today I would like to share my thoughts on Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eye Shadow Palette in Pink Mink and Modern Muse Le Rouge EdP.

Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eye Shadow Palette in Pink Mink is a shade I haven't seen in Europe but others have reported that they have it already. Pink Mink seems to be available in the States and Asia with regular packaging in the permanent line-up. It has a great balance of cool and warm tones and a surprising combination of bronze, pink and gold.

The shades in Pink Mink are as follows:
Left most: A light warm gold with very soft pigmentation. This shade doesn't show up on my lids once applied alone but can be mixed with others to add some golden sheen. I also tried it today under brow bone, I liked the way that it was not easy to overdo because in the morning I have to make sure to find my brow bone, let alone apply the right amount.
Upper left: A very light pink with matte to satin finish. This shade is great to highlight without being too shimmery. Great if you have fine lines at the inner corner. It also works good under the brown bone as an alternative to shimmer.I like it to blend over the crease as well.
Upper right: A light cool pink with shimmery finish. Gorgeous shade I like using half way on the inner side of the lid. It is very pigmented and the shimmer is complex so it doesn't look frosty.
Bottom left: My favorite shade in the palette, a mid-toned golden copper with lovely complex shimmery finish. I can see myself just applying this all over the lid on a lazy day.
Bottom right: A deep neutral brown with satin finish to add definition. It works great as a crease color. It has medium pigmentation, which shows up but it is hard to over do. I personally like deeper shades in the palettes but I found that this one works well.

Here is one of the eye looks I wore this week. I am wearing the palette also today and I was impressed by the fact that how nice it held on without fading. Eye shadows very rarely crease on me but they fall out or fade because of my dry eye lids. This one worked nicely over my Nars Pro-prime.I am wearing pink shade at the inner half, copper at the outer half, deep brown at the crease and outer corner which is blended with matte/satin pink over the crease to the brow bone.

An obvious FOTD would be to combine Estée Lauder Pink Mink with red lips which works like a charm because of the soft and balanced warm and cool tones. Instead I have a very soft pink look for you with Pink Mink on eyes, Guerlain Pink Me Up on lips & cheeks (reviewed here). I sometimes feel like all sentences and combinations are tried with the word Pink, would you agree?

With Le Rouge Collection a new perfume is joining Modern Muse line. I like the original musky white floral and reach for Chic version (reviewed here) often since the weather got colder. Chic version is woodier than the original with a strong white floral heart. Le Rouge on the other hand is the sweet care-free sister of the family. It is more playful and young.

The notes of Estée Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge are given as follows:
Top notes
Red currant, raspberry, pink pepper and saffron
Middle notes
Bulgarian rose, may rose, jasmine and magnolia petals;
Base notes
Patchouli, vetiver, madagascar vanilla and ambrette (musk mallow)
The bottle reminds us of the original version but with a red ribbon instead of black. The spray and the shape of the bottle is the same as the other two versions.

The opening of Modern Muse Le Rouge reminds me of some other fragrances such as Armani's Si with a sweet fruity kick. Pink pepper is very soft on me, so is saffron. The fruity direction can be described as berry but not very fresh which is more interesting than the average circus kick. Once the floral heart reveals I start liking Le Rouge more, it becomes more itself, less others and more mature. The base is very soft with a faint Patchouli (good thing if you are in the haters club). I would describe the dry down as vanilla with a touch of green. The composition is very office friendly although it is recognizable. I like Le Rouge's heart and base. That said my heart still belongs to the dry woody tone of Modern Muse Chic.

Final thoughts: Love the red packaging of those and enjoy Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eye Shadow Palette in Pink Mink a lot at the moment for quick and polished day looks which would work wonderfully with a glam red lip as well. Estée Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge EdP are for those of you who would like a nice blended a little sweet fruity, floral with a very soft and pleasant dry down, playful and care-free sisters of the original and Modern Muse Chic.
Have you tried Modern Muse Le Rouge? Do you like the red packaging or prefer the dark blue one?

I am not paid for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
You look so fresh and pretty wearing these colors! I love the way how the shimmer of the eyeshadows shows up on the skin. I would have loved the palette even more if they had gotten rid of those silly applicators and added a blush instead. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Sara,
ReplyDeleteLove the makeup and your earrings too.
Can you provide info abou the earrings?
They look pretty, but I can't see the design clearly.
Thanks!
That's a lovely palette, I've not tried any of those palettes yet but might have to pick that one up now :) It looks lovely on you, think this is one of my favourite looks you have done, so chic and healthy looking x
ReplyDeletePink Mink really contains a gorgeous set of shades! And Le Rouge is probably my favorite Modern Muse fragrance so far.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
ReplyDeleteEarrings are new Dior Tribale ones with an additional pearl ball with a chain.
I am going to post a review about that one soon.

Oh thanks so much,
ReplyDeleteI try not to go overboard with make-up lately not to scare the new colleagues lol
Also I dress a little more formal so super colorful make-up doesn't go good with that, I try to keep it soft. Thanks so much for your lovely comment, I think you would love Pink Mink.
Hi Lena,
ReplyDeletethank you very much, I try to keep the make-up soft to match the business outfit. I thought universities are a bit more casual but I was wrong, here everyone dresses more carefully so I have to be careful too. I know what you feel about the applicators. Brush or not I never use them so these don't bother me lol.
Hi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteyou like Le Rouge from Modern Muse? It is really a cheerful perfume and I can see that matching you so well (as you are cheerful and youthful too) :-**
Ooh! I really like this face of the day. I can actually see myself wearing this one on a day to day basis. As I get older I'm starting to shy away from really dark, bold looks as I find they emphasize just how old my eyes are getting. I hope you had a relaxing weekend.
ReplyDeleteI doooooo. And awww, you're so sweet, hehe.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that invite for drinks probably made your week, month LOL You should tell hubby, make him jealous ;) I think most guys like the more natural look for girls ( even though it us takes about 20 products to get that look!) And I remember that song from Sting. I love your eye look - very elegant and understated, but pretty!
