I hope you are having a lovely weekend. In Germany today was the Reunification Day so it was a bank holiday. Sounds great right? Not all that much for me because all the stores are closed. I wanted to treat myself for being able to survive the first week but no chance on that. This weekend we have two Sundays like a person having two left hands! I am hoping to work tomorrow a little and turn my lecture free Monday into a shopping spree kind of day. Wish for the best. I am looking for some comfortable but chic shoes under dress pants. It is always a challenge to get something functional which looks good.
Today I have three products from Givenchy, a brand you don't see much in this blog. A reason for that is that because in Stuttgart we are lacking a Givenchy counter although they are really no exceptions in Germany in general. Since I can't swatch the products it is hard for me to decide so when I was given the chance to try Givenchy Teint Couture Foundation, Le Rouge #203 Rose Dentelle lipstick and Noir Couture Volume #1 Mascara by the lovely Flaconi team, I was glad to do that. Here are my thoughts on these items.
Givenchy Teint Couture #4, Le Rouge #203 Rose Dentelle and Noir Couture Volume #1 |
I would like to start with the Foundation, Givenchy Teint Couture. It comes in a 25ml glass bottle. After the cap is removed, there is a pump dispenser which works fine to apply a few drops at the back of my hand. I apply this foundation with my fingers and go over it to blend and work into the skin using Rae Morris #27 Radiance Brush.

Givenchy Teint Couture has a velvet to matte finish and a light weight feel. I would describe the coverage as medium and buildable. It doesn't get heavy while doing that. It has SPF 20 UVA/B protection with PA++. This is being provided by physical blocker Titanium Dioxide(nano). I haven't tried to use flash photography but I believe it might reflect a bit but we rarely do that in real life. There is also alcohol and fragrance in this foundation, in case you are sensitive to these. All in all it applies nicely and provides enough coverage for the day. The longevity is average on me, lasts around 5-6 hours before redness around the nose gets more prominent. It doesn't dry out my normal to dry skin although it is more of a matte finish.
Givenchy Teint Couture #4 Before/ After |
I selected the shade #4 Elegant Beige sight unseen and prayed until the foundation reached me. It seems my prayers were heard by the make-up gods. #4 is a great match for NC20 complexion with more natural undertones. It is very close to my great match Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation in #3 Fawn (reviewed here). You can see the rest of the comparisons below with Bobbi Brown Skin Serum #2 Sand (reviewed here) and Diorskin Nude Air 020 (reviewed here) as well as YSL Fusion Ink B20 (reviewed here).

Givenchy Noir Couture Volume is a volumizing mascara with an interesting whirling wand. The package is absolutely stunning. This is a mascara you would like to take out of your purse and just apply in public for everyone to see it. #1 is a black shade called Black Taffeta which is quite deep for the drama and volume. I have heard very good things about Givenchy Mascaras but this was the first one I tried so far. My lashes on the other hand are very hard to work with. Many great mascaras don't work on me since I have straight, full and thick lashes which are hard to get curled on the first place. So almost no mascara can hold the curl.
Close-up: Givenchy Noir Couture Volume #1 |
My lashes ended up having a nice volume and color by Givenchy Noir Couture Volume #1 but as it was expected, the curl situation didn't change much. Maybe I should give up. The only thing which works a little better on me is Chanel's Le Volume. Curled or not I like the end result of Noir Couture so I have been using it regularly.

Now the most exciting item from the three products I have tried, Le Rouge #203 Rose Dentelle is to die for. The shade, the feeling on the lips, the longevity. I really don't know any other lipstick which comes close to this. If you haven't tried a Givenchy Le Rouge before, I encourage you to do so. #203 Rose Dentelle is a great everyday lip which would suit lots of skin tones. It is a natural rose tone which is not too light nor too dark. It also has a bit of warmth or redness in there which makes it unique. Big love!

Here is a new concept, a swatch FOTD! Isn't that so irresistible once used all together on... ehm... my complexion!

Alright, on my face? Here you go. I am wearing YSL Fall Quint which I thoroughly hate. The golden shade has so much fall out, worse than drug store quality. Note to myself, hold yourself back from YSL eye shadows! All that glow on my cheeks must be coming from the eye shadow haha.
The rest? Noir Couture Volume #1 on eyes (nice definition huh?), Givenchy Teint Couture #4 as a base and the most lovely Le Rouge #203 Rose Dentelle on my lips. Have I told you that I love this shade? By the way if you are in Europe, here is great news, Flaconi is now having a sale and Givenchy Le Rouge is part of it, check it out here (not affiliated). They cost just 28 €, which is really a very good deal for such quality and packaging. Here you can see the countries they are sending to and the shipping costs.
Check out Melanie's post for three of Givenchy Le Rouge shades, I am tempted by all three!
Final thoughts: Givenchy Teint Couture is a lovely foundation for the day with matte to velvet finish and lightweight feel. I wished it would be formulated without alcohol and fragrance. The sun screen is provided by nano physical Titanium Dioxide and it is given to be SPF 20. For 25 ml, it costs around 46€. Noir Couture Mascara is a nice deep black which provides the lashes with good volume. My favorite of the three items is by far Le Rouge #203 Rose Danielle. It has a beautiful shade, it feels very moisturizing, it is very pigmented and long lasting too.
Do you own and recommend any Givenchy products? What is your favorite?
Disclaimer: The products in this posts were provided free of charge for my consideration.
I am not paid for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
I have few lipsticks, this shade included. And few from another, last line that are almost sheer. And couple of eyeshadow palettes - one in plum and one for this Fall (basically also some sort of a plum). The one for Fall is good, so I am waiting for their Christmas palette already, read that it is good too :) Ah, yes, I also have few cream eyeshadows, which are quite unique in texture and I like them for a natural look on my lazy makeup day. They are shimmer-free, but don't have dull matte finish like D&G or Clarins. Colors are very good and I apply and blend them with a finger :) All in all a good brand that often does not copy others. This also makes it hard to recommend something particular because Givenchy does some things a bit different and you either like it or not.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I love that little makeup face you did haha! I'm also the same, my lashes aren't very thick or long and most mascaras don't do me any justice at all. Such a shame! The lipstick color looks gorgeous.

Hello beautiful Sara!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! And how nice you combined this floral tshirt with the lipstick!! You are looking so springy :)
Firstly I was so lucky yesterday when I found last Fall's YSL fetiche palette in half price and I got it immediately ! I had skippers remorse but better late than never right? Haha ! This Fall 's palette well no... The gold shade was so glittery that I couldn't buy it! But I would love to read your rant on this haha! Then I saw black addiction and I couldn't resist the packaging!
Givenchy: For me they make the best lipsticks in the market and luckily for my wallet there is no counter here in Stockholm but whenever i go to Greece I leave with at least 4 pieces!
I totally recommend for you last fall's shade Framboise Velours! This is the most beautiful burgundy shade I own! I cannot recall if it's permanent ( I think it is) but I got it in the perfect limited burgundy leather packaging and I really love it! Try it and you will remember my words !
I so want to try now Teint Balm Couture foundation but I guess I have to risk on the shade that I'll pick online!
Another bunch of colors that I own and love from Le Rouge is Rose Bodoir, Magnolia Organza and Rose Dressing in the floral packaging! But now you made me want Rose Dantelle also !
Sorry for the long post :)
:*
Hi Mika,
ReplyDeletehahaha I am glad you liked my little FOTD ;-)
Lipstick shade is to die for! I myself sometimes forget the mascara lol, wonder why.
Do you like the new Givenchy Le Rouge-A-Porter? I haven't tried them yet. Those plum eye shadow palettes were also calling my name but at one point I swatched them and I found them a little dry. Do you like the ones your own?
ReplyDeleteCream eye shadows *sigh*. I had two, a grey and a pink, both of them were the worse cream eye shadow I tried so far, super patchy and uneven. The grey one was worse. I have read somewhere though that the quality is different between the shades. I got the grey one from someone I know before it was even released and I was so excited to report about it. After I used it I was like "oh well, rather not post about it".
Hi Hara :-*** I always love to read your comments and your beauty stories. I think you did a great deal with YSL Fetiche palette, that one is superb really, that one and the coral blue one from the summer before the last year. Other limited edition ones though, well, not that much. That golden shade which has the largest pan is practically a joke. I can't believe I paid so much for it after reading all the raves. My rant? If it is a special wish post then I will do that for you hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI swatched the Black Addiction one, the shades appeared a bit too close on my skin so I skipped, should I go back?
Framboise Velours? now this goes into my wish list. Last night I ordered two from Flaconi since they are on sale, there was also a newsletter coupon. I paid only 51 for two of these lippies, which is a great deal I think. I got one plummy brown shade and a pink one. I am excited about them both. I have Rose Dressing with flower case but I never used it haha. I think the shade is a bit too bright for my face, maybe I wait for the next summer ;-) I also have a nice called Rose D'Exception with leather casing, it is nice as well.
Yes, the regular palettes were/are dry indeed, also don't like. The new LE is a different texture, very pigmented and one for Christmas apparently is similar. See, as I said GIvenchy is a very polarizing brand, you definitely dislike their cream eyeshadows :) It requires some application practice and patience, but what in this world doesn't? :) Le Rouge-A-Porter is also quite different from other sheer lipsticks and reviews are also polarizing (either great or awful). It is not as shiny/glossy, has a semi-matte finish and silicony/waxy texture. It is comfortable to wear and lasts on me much longer than other sheer lipsticks and it quickly relieves dry lips. I appreciate that it doesn't try to migrate from my lips like Coco Shine (maybe not the best comparison because Coco Shine formula feels dated). Colors also last much longer and some of them leave a very subtle stain. Number 103 and number 104 are the best options in this range from my pov (nude-natural). They make a very natural lip look, so they are maybe not a best match for a heavy full face makeup or taking pictures, but when any lipstick feels like too much, on a light makeup day, they are just perfect. I would not recommend more colorful shades as a lot of layering will be required to completely cover the natural lip tone, it just doesn't make sense, easier to buy a classic version of the color (colors are the same in both lines).
ReplyDeleteGivenchy # 203 Rose Dentelle is a really beautiful lipstick. is almost identical, a dupe, with Burberry # 306 Pink Amber Lip Velvet. I own them both and swatched them side by side.
ReplyDeleteHi Amelia, thanks for letting us know. Would you like to leave a link so we can also check out? :-*
ReplyDeleteRose Dentelle is one of my go-to everyday shades. And your reminder has me going back to see what other Rouges I might like. No one ever talks about these Givenchy lippies and they are fabulous. Like HarPer, I also got the YSL Black Addiction palette. With my cool neutral skin, the dusty colors are so sophisticated and wearable. I wear it over a Mac ProPrime in a kind of rosy gray and it holds pretty well. I could imagine it would also look great (because it is the same color family) as the Chanel holiday IDO or eye liner. I am using it with the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock which is a wine-y shade. Do to the shape of my eyes, I would never wear the IDO over the whole lid but more sweep it near the lash line and the Black Addiction would work with that. Of course, given all the pinks and wines in your Suqqu collection, you could do the same thing with those most likely.
ReplyDeleteI only have a pretty quad of eyeshadows, a friend of mine gift, in pastel colors that I never wear, too bad(! Pink, mauve, vert d'eau et chocolat ! Pretty but not my cup of tea !). So I can't say I have a real opinion about Lancôme but I do love your lipstick ... And the little funny face on your arm !!!!
ReplyDeletePaddychat
Rose Danielle really sounds (and looks) like a winner! I also love the way you swatched it, hee hee, so cute.
ReplyDeleteHow can I send the photo of my Instagram and not disturb your blog?
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try the Le Rouge but I need to swatch them first. The arm swatch though. So CUTE! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSorry, Givenchy of course, not Lancôme !!!
ReplyDeleteI love the final look you did, the foundation, mascara, and lipstick look great on you! I have a deluxe sample of that mascara and agree, the packaging is so lux looking
ReplyDeleteOh you can just upload the photo here or just leave the link to your instagram. Or you can tell me your Instagram name and I leave the link if you can't.
ReplyDeleteThe lipstick shade is stunning! Everday pinks are my thing!

Here it is for my Instagram profile. enjoy! https://instagram.com/p/8avyoEFSO9/
ReplyDeleteAt the center that hits the sun, #203 Rose Dentelle looks more pink, at the perimeter, at the edges, you can see that both are almost identical ( I think, I became a makeup nerd... )
ReplyDeleteI have Rose Dentelle, it's such a lovely every day shade! I love Le Rouge lipstick, I have a small collection of them! My favorite shade is Framboise Velours, you should look into it if you like warm berry shades.
ReplyDeleteThat lipstick is absolutely beautiful!! I have never tried anything from Givenchy, other than their nail polish!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty look on you - both the foundation and the lipstick. I have been meaning to get a Givenchy Phenonen Eyes mascara since trying a small sample size and being impressed but Givenchy counters seem few and far between in my neck of the woods! Susan, London
ReplyDeleteHi Amalia,
ReplyDeletethanks so much for posting this photo, these are really close!! But still different too so now you make me want the Burberry one as well!!!
Hi Jane,
ReplyDeletethanks so much for letting me know how you think of Givenchy palettes and other products. It started to get more and more difficult to get honest reviews on line. You certainly made me want Rouge-A-Porter. I will try one next time I am at the airport or in a city with a counter. Too bad we don't have a counter here. 103 and 104 go to my wish list :-)
Hi Alison,
ReplyDeleteI ordered 3 more Givenchy Lipsticks this week. Did I go a bit crazy? I ordered one called Brun something, which has some "plum" in there, so so beautiful! You are right my Suqqus and the new Suqqu coming up I might not feel the need for Black Addiction one. I liked the packaging there but then I swatched them and I felt like the shades were too close to each other. I like YSL Quads if they have very distinct shades because they blend so well ( a bit too much) into each other so with very different shades, it works well. I can't wait for Chanel Holiday You once asked me about the texture of the quad. It is one of the best formulas you can find on the market. This will be the third one they released, the rest one was the legendary Topkapi quad and the second one was the plummy perfection. I can't wait this one to pop up!
Hi Paddy,
ReplyDeleteyes I know that you meant Givenchy :-)
I also don't have much experience with the brand other than a few not so good ones with their eye shadows but these lipsticks are to die for.
LOL yes cuty arm swatch FOTD! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAfter you show how your arm wears lipstick, here how mine wears makeup lol
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly it! An everyday pink :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the packaging of the mascara, wished it would hold my curls much better although this sounds so funny lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Lulle,
ReplyDeleteafter this post I ended up with a small collection as well, had to order 3 other shades taking advantage of a shopping week here and one of them is Framboise Velours thanks to you!
Ordered Framboise Velours, it is your fault lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd this reminds me, yes I have rose dressing too, somewhere here, never tried on lol.
Hi Agata,
ReplyDeletealthough their nail polishes are fine I think the true start of the line is the lipsticks. Make sure to check them out next time you visit a counter :-**
I know right, here it is the same, we have almost everything in Stuttgart, which is the capital city of this state but no Givenchy counter. How odd is that? If I don't have a counter close by, it gets hard to get warmed to a line. Only Suqqu making an exception.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I'm sure you will love it! So happy you got it :) and i found the Bleu Lumiere from last summer by YSL and got it too! So it goes both ways! LOL!
ReplyDelete:*
Yes, I am waiting on that one. It's way behind the rest of the collection. I got the eye Khol. The color is stunning, but it really needs to be topped with a powder shadow. The red browns are actually the only browns I can really wear well so I am very enthused about this collection. Red brown lipstick is definitely my best color, but I have so many, including Chanels of times past, so not planning to spring for the lip pie.
