Happy Sunday! It is almost holidays, I hope I can show you all the pretties I have for holidays on time. I am glad to see that I can find some time in the morning to do my make-up although I am pretty busy getting used to the new job. That said the light situation in the morning started to be an issue. I want to photograph the looks I am wearing everyday to show you an FOTD of the corresponding products. I might get a ring light and see how that works for me. I like photographing FOTDs with the day light because the lights wash out the make-up so one has to really apply everything heavily. You know the Instagram/Youtube kind of make-up, very glam but not wearable unless you are working as a street artist with a doll or 17th century costume.
Last week I managed to capture two FOTDs which I would like to share with you today. I have been following how Bobbi Brown gets more attractive for me with each of their releases. I loved how illuminating but not frosty their Brightening Bricks are (reviewed here). Their new Intensive Skin Serum Foundation (reviewed here) is one of my go-to foundation at the moment. I am also testing their new corrector and concealers (review coming up soon). As for Holidays, Sterling Nights Palette (reviewed here) stole my heart. I recently got to try out two of the newly released Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors, #18 Hibiscus which is marked as limited edition and #5 Pale Mauve which joins the permanent line. My thoughts are right after the jump.

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors #5 Pale Mauve, #18 Hibiscus |
Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors come in vintage looking gold black packaging. These have a luxurious feel to it as they have a certain volume and weight but they are not chubby nor too heavy. At the same time I see a touch of modernity in the font chosen to print brand's name. The lipsticks have click closure. I wish it would be magnetic but it somehow goes well with the "new vintage" theme.
Each bullet has .13 OZ/3.8 g of product which is a little more than some of the other brands (Rouge Dior, 3.5 g, Tom Ford 3 g, MAC 3 g, Chanel Rouge Allure 3.5 g). Bobbi Brown is one of the brands which is usually generous about the amount of make-up in the products. Remember Sterling Nights Palette had a whooping 18.5 g of eye shadow which would last you years and years even if you wear it often. Although I rarely finish up products, I still love to see the generous sizes with high-end prices. After all not everyone is a make-up junky like myself and they would like to get what they paid for. Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors retail for around 35 € in Germany.
Thirty shades are released, the following nine shades are marked as limited edition:
Neutral Rose, Pink Buff, Soft Berry, Posh Pink, Raspberry Pink, Brocade, Plum Brandy, Downtown Plum (this calls my name so bad!) and Hibiscus.

Swatch: Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors #5 Pale Mauve, #18 Hibiscus |
Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors #18 Hibiscus, be still my beating heart! It is exactly my type of plum with a touch of red which makes it different than my hoard of plum lippies. On my lips it looks not too cool, natural, almost warm with the touch of red in there. Writing about my hoard of plums, maybe I should post some comparison but I find the lipsticks to be very hard to compare as the finishes and coverage/opacity makes them look so different especially if you have pigmented lips like I do.
Hibiscus is very nicely pigmented, you can achieve opacity with one swipe as the formula doesn't feel heavy. I love the fact that they could pack all this pigment in such a light weight formula. It feels nicely moisturizing on the lips. Once I apply it directly from the bullet, the longevity is medium but if you apply several layers with blotting in between it lasts longer. It also wears off evenly.
Below I am wearing Chanel #673 Singuliere on my nails. Eventually I laid my hands on two of the nail polishes which were never released in Germany thanks to my friend in London. My package from US is still missing *sighs*. On my eyes I am wearing Bobbi Brown Sterling Nights Palette which is one of my most beloved cool-toned palettes for work at the moment.

FOTD: Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors #18 Hibiscus |
The shade of Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors #5 Pale Mauve was not what I expected it to be from the name and promo photos. I thought, "Mauve? Sign me in! Pale... well not that much but I hope it is not so pale". But of course I was wrong, Pale Mauve, as the name suggests, is pale! #5 Pale Mauve is a nice natural rose tones nude.
#5 Pale Mauve goes well with pink/plum eye looks where the focus is on the eyes. It is hard to find a perfect nude for your complexion and I don't think Pale Mauve is the perfect nude for me but it goes very well with one of the palettes I acquired recently, Givenchy Metallic Reflections from Vinyl Collection. I skipped it this fall but my readers and friends kept telling me about how beautiful it applies. The main reason I skipped was because we don't have a Givenchy Counter close to where I live and all the other palettes swatched very dry and patchy back in September when I visited a counter. Metallic Reflections, as friends told me, is really different. It is so beautiful, shimmery but doesn't produce fall out and it gives me the perfect taupe/plum look. Thanks for all the recommendations. I love wearing Metallic Reflections with Bobbi Brown #5 Pale Mauve or Tom Ford Malik, both make a great match for a mono chromatic make-up like the one below. I enjoy this look so much, I wore it two of four make-up days last week.
As for its formula Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors #5 Pale Mauve feels hydrating and light-weight, with a reasonable coverage for a nude but doesn't look concealer like which is hard to achieve for me as I have pigmented lips to start with. Pale Mauve lasts a little less than Hibiscus but that is normal since deeper shades last usually longer.

Check out other shades and reviews at Chloe Ash (Posh Pink & Your Majesty and her version which she calls Posh Majesty haha!), Lenallure (Russian Doll), Kiss and Make-Up (Pink Cloud, Bright Peony) and Vibrant Beauty Blog (Pink Nude). If you reviewed one of these, please leave a comment below.
Final thoughts: I love how much pigment and wear comfort come with in these tubes. Bobbi Brown certainly manages to make a hydrating and light weight formula with a decent coverage. Thumbs up!
Have you checked those out? Are you eyeing any shades from the range?
