Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle & Iris Meadow Eau de Parfum, Review

I wish you a lovely Friday. Unfortunately mine started a bit cra(m)ppy so all day lying around and watching stupid videos is my kind of day today.

This post was scheduled for yesterday evening but when  I was driving home from the university, one of my tires got flat on the highway. It was not fun but I was very lucky that it happened right on time when I was reducing my speed to take an exit. In Germany on some of the highways there is no speed limit so you can imagine how it would end up if I would be pushing the gas pedal on the left most lane. *Sigh*. I called the service and they towed the car. Since it is Easter Holidays at the moment, I have to wait a few days for them to fix it. Have you ever got a flat tire on the high way?

Last Spring I have reviewed Amber Musk Eau de Perfume from Aerin Lauder's lifestyle brand Aerin. Perfumes are inspired by fabric designs from her line and I found them to be grown-up office proper scents. Their stone like lids and golden details of the flacon make them a stunner over your vanity as well. Lately three new scents are added to the collection, two of which I would like to introduce you today. Here are my thoughts about Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle and Iris Meadow.

Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle & Iris Meadow Eau de Parfum

Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle takes me to my childhood. For those who doesn't know, Honeysuckle is very common around Mediterranean and as a kid we used to suck the honey out of these flowers. Think about eating honey with jasmines so close to your nose, this is how heavenly it is, aromatic and delicious. The rumor has it that if you eat too many of these, your stomach might hurt although I believe it is simply to make you stop destroying all the flowers.

Notes
Sweet Honeysuckle, Sparkling Grapefruit, Italian Bergamot,
Mandarin Oil, Lily of the Valley, Gardenia, Jasmine Sambac Absolute

With the first whiff Mediterranean Honeysuckle has a citrusy opening with a sweet touch of honeysuckle to balance out the composition and make it more floral. The blend of bergamot and grapefruit is well made in that sense that it never gets too generic, too citrusy nor too sweet. As the white florals are revealed more, it gets a more sensual, skin like twist although it stays to be a fresh perfume. It reminds me of Atelier Cologne perfumes, such as Pomelo Paradis (reviewed here) but Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle is not so gourmand. Dry down is musky and clean. It is hard to find a good citrus scent without getting too generic or too weird but Mediterranean Honeysuckle manages it beautifully. It is a great summer scent, especially if you are taking a stroll along one of the heavenly beaches of Mediterranean right during the sun set. I am definitely getting this bottle with me to holidays.

I would like to go on my review by inserting a spoiler right here about how I feel about Aerin's Iris Meadow Eau de Parfum. I want to bath in it! Let me sleep in it. I want to drench my clothes in it. There are not many scents I get so much hooked on to but after one and a half week with this one, almost one fifth of the bottle is gone. Good thing that I managed to take the photos before.

Notes
Mandarin, Black Currant, Iris,
Egyptian Jasmine, Cedarwood, Woody Musk

Iris Meadow opens with a short phase of mandarin and black currant. I am glad to see that black currant is not very overpowering so that the scent never gets fruity. The entrance of Iris happens rather soon and lasts long on my skin, even at dry down. Iris Meadow, as the name suggests, is a green and earthy interpretation of Iris, which at times provides a hint of smokiness although the scent stays on a clean base. It gives the impression of taking a walk in the garden right after rain and enjoy the earthy scent of the flowers. The soft musky woody dry down, which has a hint of Iris, is lovely.

Final thoughts: Aerin's has lovely additions to brand's perfume line.  Mediterranean Honeysuckle is a lovely fresh citrusy scent which has a great balance between white flowers, clean musk and fresh notes. It is great for hot summer days. Iris Meadow is for those who enjoy a well blended green woody floral. The hint of earth together with a lingering Iris note made me fall in love with this one. It is my favorite Spring scent at the moment.

Aerin Iris MeadowMediterranean Honeysuckle and Waterlily Sun EdP are available starting from April in Germany. They are available in 100 ml and 50 ml bottles (latter shown in photos) and cost around 150€ and 96€ respectively. Matching body creams are priced at around 58€ for 150 ml.

Do you like citrusy fragrances? Any recommendations?

  2. OMG that tire incident sounds scary!!! I've seen cars get into horrible accident right in front of my eyes on the highway with their tires shredding to bits! Glad you're ok! These fragrances sound amazing.... I wish EL would bring these Aerin fragrances to Singapore already!!

  3. Iris Meadow sounds great. I like citrus scents very much. I love Escale de Portofino by Dior. Very fresh, crisp fragrance.
