Burberry Nail Polish #440 Optic White, #304 Black Cherry for Spring/Summer 2016 Runway, Review, Swatch & Comparisons

I wish you a wonderful Sunday. It is officially the last day of my holiday, time flies. Today I am planning to give home made gel nails a go. I was recently sent a curing device to test. It is supposed to cure both UV and LED nail polish, not that I know what they are. I am such a newbie in this. I ordered OPI Base and Top Coat and one Soak-off Gel Nail Polish. I hope I am not off with my orders. My nails are not in a bad shape at the moment and I wore the last regular nail polish for a week. I wonder if gel nail polish would bring anything at this point but I got so curious and had to try it. I am a little scared that it will effect my nails badly. Have you tried gel? Any tips and tricks?

I usually don't go for nail polish posts on Sundays but yesterday my eyes got very sensitive after trying out new make-up. I don't know if it was the eye shadow or the mascara, have yet to find out. This is why I need to give a break for a day or two. A fun (or not that fun) fact is that after a celebration for our wedding, my eyes got so swollen from make-up, I almost couldn't see and had to go back home. This is part of the reason why I invest for high-end make-up because the probability of me getting sensitive, scratchy or swollen is way lower.

Burberry's Spring/Summer 2016 Runway Collection is going strong. The gorgeous powders which I reviewed recently are sold out online in Germany one day after they were released. Now I am kicking myself not to get a back-up of the white one. A lovely reader *waves at Christina* mentioned that the white highlighter is the same as their wet & dry eye shadows in Optic White so I might go ahead and order that one as a replacement.

Today I would like to share my thoughts, some swatches and comparison swatches of two of the nail polishes of the collection. There is a third one, Stone, which I already have. It is a gorgeous Trench Coat kind of shade. The new shades are a white and a deep vampy red, you can see them right after the jump...

For my thoughts about Burberry nail polishes in general, you can check this post out. Click here, here, here or here more Burberry Nail Polish swatches. As a summary, Burberry nail polishes last very well on me, one of the best in fact together with YSL and Armani. The brush though is a little stiff so it might pick up too much product. You have to bare this in mind while applying. Other than that I have no issues with the formula.

Burberry Nail Polish #440 Optic White is a gorgeous true white. It is very hard to find a white which doesn't streak and has good opacity with two coats but Burberry nailed it with Optic White. Super in love with this color. I am enjoying it in Spring but in summer it will be another level with some tan, can't wait! In the photos below, I applied two coats.

Here is one of my all time favorite lipstick products, Burberry Lip Velvet in Damson (reviewed here).  I am happy to have a matching nail polish to go with that. After all, a girl can't have enough vampy nail polishes right?

Burberry Nail Polish line was lacking a real dark vampy red and I am glad to see that they recognized the gap! Meet #304 Black Cherry. The name tells it all. It is a deep burgundy/red which is not too blackened so still looks red on the tips, which is a good thing in my book. The consistency of Black Cherry was a little thinner than Optic White but it was opaque in two coats. You have to know though if your nails have bumps on them, you might need a filling base coat with that. I have those on my ring finger, so check out the swatches below to see what I mean. I really like this shade though, especially because it is not another shade of black and it is not too brown. Below swatches are taken after two coats.

Here are some comparisons to similar shades from my stash. I found out that comparing white polishes on a white nail wheel was not the best idea after all. Burberry Optic White is the most natural and opaque of all three once compared to Chanel Eastern Light and Dior #005 Snow White, the latter is a little warmer.

Dior #918 Hypnotic (reviewed here) is pulling more brown than Burberry #304 Black Cherry. Chanel #18 Rouge Noir is the closest shade to Black Cherry. Burberry #303 Oxblood is lighter and shows more red. Chanel Western Light is deeper, blackened and less red. Chanel #573 Accessoire (sorry for the missing s in the photo) is cooler and lighter.

Here is another look at the gorgeous Nude Gold Spring/Summer 2016 Palette and nail polishes as well as the Eye Color Cream in matching Nude Gold shade. I love the fact that Burberry didn't jump in the "Pastels and Serenity Whatever-Shade" wagon. Instead they interpreted their trench shades in a soft and wearable way. Thumbs up for this collection and the nail polishes.

Burberry Spring/Summer Runway Look

Final thoughts: Although the brush needs some getting used to, Burberry Nail Polishes have gorgeous formula and consistency across the line. #440 Optic White is a winner by being one of the whites which doesn't streak and reach perfect opacity in two coats. #304 Black Cherry is a classical deep vampy red I can't get enough of, although it shows the nail texture a little so you might need some filling coat with it.

Availability
The collection is newly released in Germany but the powders are sold out on Douglas, although they are still available on Burberry Website. If you are eyeing anything, I recommend you to order sooner or later. Black Cherry Nail Polish is sold out on Burberry Website but at the time I write this post, it is available on Douglas online. Happy hunting.

  3. Black Cherry and Rouge are so close to each other. Not sure I need both. Does one seem to wear better/longer without chipping for you?

  5. Oh, and I just have to say if you are getting good wear out of regular polish, I would be very careful about gel polish. I got gel manicures about five years ago when they first were offered-- and it took a white for my nails to recover. The problem is the removal. I am pretty sure that soaking your fingers in acetone for many long minutes is not good for either nails or the body. It's also important not to scrape to get them off. Nail polish does not wear that long on me, but I would never consider getting gel polish again until they come up with a formula that can be removed without so much acetone exposure.
