Wish you all a wonderful week! I am super busy but there are very exciting new collections from Suqqu, which I simply can't wait to show you. I would like to start with UK Exclusive Summer Collection inspired by Japanese playful color combinations called Kasaneiro and Aweseiro. A quick research revealed different colors to be layered, for example worn by woman as kimonos over each other.
There are two Blend Color Eyeshadow Palettes (Ex-30 Hekikai, Ex-31 Gyoukou) and two Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist (Ex-20 Hyaku Daidai, Ex-21 Sen Ka) in this collection together with an Extra Volume Mascara with waterproof formula. Today I would like to share my thoughts on the eye shadow palettes and lipsticks.

The eyes are very colorful so you would expect the lips to be decent, no way. This collection is color all the way and manages it without being garish.
Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist Ex-20 Hyaku Daidai is described as a vivid coral shade. I would call it a terra-cotta shade for the lips. This lipstick is one of the highlights of the collection for me. I don't have anything like it really and with a little bit of bronzer it looks oh so stunning. I am so obsessed that you will see I wore it with both of the looks I put together for you below. Enough said!
Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist Ex-21 Sen Ka is described as a bright pink with blue undertones. On my lips it pulls nicely plummy. I am digging this one too, but I have similar shades in my collection because this is so my color that I happened to collect similar shades.
Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist has a very hydrating, glossy and yet long lasting formula. Most of the range is sheerer than these two limited edition shades Ex-20 and Ex-21. I think the formula goes very well with pigmented shades. Suqqu should release more of these (note it down Suqqu!).

Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 Hekikai and Ex-31 Gyoukou are for those of you who love the Suqqu eyeshadow formula but would like to try it in interesting shades with a good deal of pigment. Both of the palettes have three matte shades and one satin/shimmer. Since the vibrant shades are matte and doesn't reflect the light, although they look very crazy in the pan, I found them to be very wearable on the eyes.
Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 Hekikai, Ex-31 Gyoukou |
Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 Hekikai is a harmony in lime green, turquoise and deep blue. The white shade in the palette can be used all over the lid to start with a blank canvas. It also works as a highlight in the inner corner and on the brow bone.
Satin shade in this palette is the stunning turquoise. It is so beautiful on its own with a little bit of blue on the crease but if you would like to step up your game, you can add some yellow/lime green on the inner corner, along the lower lash line or on the mid-lid. All of the shades are very pigmented. cream, green and deep blue are all matte which makes them very wearable.
Swatch: Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 Hekikai |
For the look below, I applied the lime green on the inner corner, turquoise on the middle and deep blue on the crease. I also swiped the turquoise along the lower lash line. I tightlipped my eye but didn't use a liner so that the colors would show even when my eyes are open. Usually these shades would look garish on me but with the blendability and complexity as well as the certain transparency of Suqqu formula makes it so easy to wear. What do you think?

Here is the look in context with Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 on the eyes. I loved the combination of the terra-cotta lip shade Creamy Glow Lipstick Ex-20 with these green/blue combination together with a bit of bronzer (Tom Ford Terra).

If Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 is ice or water, Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-31 Gyoukou is warmth, a ray of sun and earth. Gyoukou settles in a more familiar color combination but interprets it in the most vivid way possible.
The satin shade is a very warm yellow gold with stunning shimmer. The matte orange and deep neutral brown supports the sunny color theme. White matte shade is very useful to even out any discoloration on the lid and make everything else blend effortlessly. I can see this orange making blue eyes pop so take note blue eyed ladies.
Swatch: Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-31 Gyoukou |
Here is a look with Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-31 Gyoukou. I used the gold in the inner corner, orange on the middle and brown on the outer corner and crease. I applied white all over before I started and used the same shade to highlight the brow bone.

Below I am wearing Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-31 Gyoukou on the eyes, Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick Ex-20 Hyaku Daidao (again!) on the lips. I only have dusted a bit of bronzer on the cheek bones and some highlighter on the high points. That lipstick ladies, it is super pretty! If you can pull some orange, I urge you to get it. There is also something about it that doesn't make my teeth look yellow nor does it look brownish on me. So perfect!

Phew! Yes it is unusual and very colorful but no way garish not too much, It is still Suqqu but in another interpretation. I personally love the idea of unusual color combinations and lots of pigment. Bring it on Suqqu, I want more!
I am happy to be able to get my review up before two massive swatch UK blogs (!) post color incorrect ugly swatches & photos and write a few lines to go with that without even testing the products. You can tell I am frustrated, that s because I am haha!
Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30, Ex-31, Creamy Glow Lipstick Ex-20, Ex-21 |
Check out Belly's post on those, she included nice comparison swatches.
Final thoughts: Such an unexpected collection, full of pigment and very unusual color combinations. Since the matte textures don't reflect the light, they turned out to be much ore wearable than I anticipated. I am especially loving the blue palette Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadows Ex-30 and the stunning terra cotta lipstick Creamy Glow Lipstick Ex-20.

Ex-31 Gyoukou looks like a glowy and more vivid version of Dior quint Beige Massai (almost vintage now!). Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! I love them both. I am amazed that you can pull off that orange one, but it looks fabulous on you. Orange is pretty much my worst eye color, though I can wear lime green. That one with the turquoise one is out of this world. I am also wondering how the navy in that quad would look smoked over a navy eyeliner. The orange lipstick is also pretty. I love that more tawny and less coral type of orange very much on neutral skin. After all your praise, I finally decided to try the Terra bronzer. I am so not a bronzer girl that I have one another bronzer in my collection-- the Chanel stick from last Spring. But as you say, it really is quite wearable and I am using it for a little sculpting. Liking it very much. I have not been commenting much recently because the US presidential election is a big deal this year and has taken my attention away from makeup! But when I saw these swatches on FB, it was like a magnet.
ReplyDeleteBoth quads look beautiful on you. This collection is such a departure from Suqqu's usual offerings. When I first saw the promo photos I didn't think I could pull these shades off and I'm still not sure but after seeing your eye looks I'm tempted by the EX-30 and the EX-21 lipstick. :)
ReplyDelete*waves* lovely clear photos, Sara! This is such an eye catching collection. Have to say, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use so many vibrant shades into a cohesive look. MUST TRY HARDER!
ReplyDeleteOh pretty! Normally, I hate warm toned eyeshadows, but I am leaning towards that orange. Such a stunning orange!
ReplyDeleteAh, totally loving those blues and greens on you! As you say, they are surprisingly ultra wearable! So pretty for Spring :)
ReplyDeleteI'm completely in love with Ex-30! Does anybody know how I can order these items from the US? Thank you! Love your reviews Sara!
ReplyDeleteLOL, love your last paragraph there! And you totally rocked the blue palette!!! I'm working on my post too.... i'm playing a bit of catch-up at the moment, but now you've inspired me! :*
ReplyDeleteSuch fun colors! <3
ReplyDeleteCelia, It is not available in the US, sadly. Since this is a UK exclusive, best bet would be to contact Selfridges directly.
ReplyDeleteLol, Sara! I am with you :) I once got so frustrated with those UK blogs that I even commented on one of them that I wonder if the pictures were taken through the plastic bag because they were so extremely bad. I wonder what do you need to do to make them so washed, unclear and color un-true (even on my phone camera I get better photos without trying). I got an answer that I am a very mean person. Right. I replied that actually the blogger who receives a ton of free makeup with a single purpose of showing it to people long before the official launch and posts it in a way that people are not able to see anything, then this blogger is a mean person, not me. Anyway, some of the UK blogs are a total waste of makeup. There is a Russian saying - "Some people have their arms growing from the ass". What can you do.
