La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion, Review

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

This is how I always started. I thought it would be appropriate before I cautiously, tiptoeing start to write a new blog post. You might have or have not noticed that I was missing for sometime. After over three years of constant blogging, I know some of you were worried about me and I feel flattered from the e-mails I received, those which I recently got to read. I intend to give some apologies right after the jump but first about today's post.

I have been to holiday, yes, I had been testing lots of products, those which happened to be mostly skin care since over 30ÂșC I rarely wear makeup to the beach. Now that I am back for only a couple of weeks, I would like to share some of my thoughts with you on my favorites. Let's start with La Mer's new product, The Moisturizing Soft Lotion. Hubby got this one on mail when I was away and brought it with him to the Mediterranean Coast I was residing. Heaven sent if you ask me, details are as below, photos are taken in the region...

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion

I have to start with my apologies first since I had been away for the month of August and part of September. For those of you who were worried, I am so sorry for that and also so flattered that you sent me such lovely e-mails, which are part of the reason why I am back today. I truly regret not taking ten minutes to write a post and let you know that I was doing fine. Why I haven't done that? Because my absence had been organic.

Shortly after my last post, indicating I would be posting more regularly, I found out that I underestimated the effort of a professor during exams week. Daily I had to answer so many e-mails from students who were asking for the content of the exam and much more. We know students study a week before exam and that is true. But the true hectic time started by the correction phase. Everyday there were students asking for their grades and while they are waiting for that, for the life of me, I couldn't just take a few hours to write a blog post, I would feel bad about it since the grades are sometimes a matter of life & death for them. After I submitted all the exams, I was happily preparing a blog post...

Then I was invited from the court for a stupid reason: Passing by red light in the midst of the night and having an out-of-duty police officer coincidentally seeing it. I swear I haven't noticed but there are those moments you get into deep thought, maybe it was a moment like that, I don't know. Anyway this costed me another week or two of stress, not to mention that I got 2 points and had to give away my driver's license for a month, a little too harsh if you ask me, considering they had nothing to prove it other than a police officer's words and there was no one on the street other than us but I am over it and life goes on. For the last part of my absence, I was on holiday, trying to get back to my normal self, swimming everyday for getting a little fitter because I had gained so much wait during the last semester. I just came back last week and semester will start next week but I prepared some posts already, so for those who missed me, you will be seeing more of me. Also I got e-mails asking for a few reviews. I have lots of Japanese Make-Up and Fall Collections coming up. I also skipped some summer collections, you might be seeing an occasional "caught in action" review from these, just to share the make-up with you.

This had been a long explanation. I am hoping you are not all too mad at me. I am recharged and ready to go! Without further ado I start with my review of one product which truly rocked my summer holiday as a multi tasking skin care miracle I stumbled upon, La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion.

Before I forget, when I was trying to take the photo below, the sea was almost swallowing my bottle!

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion

I brought a few face creams/moisturizers to the holidays with me to apply at night, in the morning and after the beach to make sure that my normal to dry skin stays hydrated and moisturized. As much as I didn't have much of a problem with my skin care at night, when the humidity and temperatures are in normal range, I had a big struggle there with my day skincare. Whatever I put on was staying put on my face, not to mention what kind of a mess it was if I got sweaty just a little bit. I believe summer time is just right to test and find out truly exceptional moisturizers, it needs to penetrate into skin very fast, in deeper layers and fight with the evil effects of the sun rays, especially if your skin is dry to start with.

Thomas joined me a few weeks later so I asked him to bring some of the skin care and make-up he picked up for me from the post. Right after the first try as after sun lotion, Moisturizing Soft Lotion literally became my go to for morning and night alike. I tried to organize my thoughts why I am so taken by it:

  • It distributes effortlessly over the skin, almost gliding so you have to use only a tiny amount.
  • It penetrates into the skin almost instantly, leaving it very soft and moisturized. When I say soft, read baby soft.
  • It has a very subtle satin finish, perfect for wearing under make up, together with its fast absorption qualities.
  • The effect lasts and lasts.

According to La Mer, it has rich Miracle Broth with vitamins, oils and lime tea concentrate to protect the skin from environmental effects. It uses a technology called Soft Lotion Capsules to make it reach deeper layers of the skin. I am usually careful when I acknowledge what brand claims but I can certainly say that I felt that this one reaches deeper into the skin, especially seeing how it worked even under hot and humid conditions.

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion

Final thoughts: After my holy grail La Mer Illuminating Eye Gel (reviewed here), Moisturizing Soft Lotion became one product which I will certainly replaced when it is empty. A great addition to the Moisturizing Line of La Mer, a multi tasker as base under make-up, lotion under your cream and even worn on its own on hectic days.

Availability/Price: La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion is available in Germany since the beginning of September. For 50 ml/1.7 Oz it sets you back 230 €/$260.

Are you using lotions? Which ones are you enjoying at the moment?

I love to read your thoughts on skincare and foundation, since we have the same skin type and often wear the same shade too. Have you tested the new Sisley foundation?

Sisley let me know there was a package which was returned during my absence, they are sending it again now, let's hope the foundation is inside because I love love their base products. If not I will try to provide one for a review.

  14. I'll be interested to hear your views and see swatches on these two autumn collections. I have bought SUQQU blush In 02, cream eyeshadow in pink and the Extra Glow Lipstick #04. I really like the blush and lipstick but the cream shadow I just use as a base, as otherwise it creases too much.

Have you received any items from the UK exclusive collection out in October? I'm wondering whether to reserve any items. :)

  19. I'm really glad you came back :)!!! I didn't want to disturb asking when you'll post something new, 'cause I did not want you to feel like you are obliged to do it... it's not a full-time job and nothing is "due" to us readers, but God, buying a nail polish without reading your opinion id like going on a blind date!!! I hope you're loving your new job, though :) !!!
