Chanel Le Rouge Collection, Caught in Action

I hope you are having a wonderful week. Today I had a half day so I thought I can share another collection with you which I am wearing very often at the moment, again a little later than expected. I got these more than a month ago but the products are still around in case you missed them. I would like to also hear what you picked up and what you are loving from Chanel Fall 2016 Collection Le Rouge No 1

When I heard about the name of the collection, I knew I had to get every single eye item because I love reddish hues on the eyes. I was not sure about the blush, although I almost always get the cheek color, this time it was very pigmented. Pigmented blushes make me look like a clown and in a bad way and I couldn't find the reason up to date why I can't pull off a blush look. I got the nail colors as well but still experimenting with these. The jelly one needs twice the time for drying, so not a fan. The classical cream red shade Le Vernis #528 Rouge Puissant is a lovely red for fall, very much enjoying it. I also picked up one of the new Rouge Allure Ink shades, #150 Luxuriant. All of my thoughts and an FOTD is after the jump.

My Picks from Chanel Le Rouge Collection

This is the first collection that was designed by Chanel's new Creative Designer Lucia Pica and it is a take on of one of Chanel's so called pillar color, red. I remember going crazy over Rouge Noir Collection some seasons ago so I was also waiting for that one with much excitement. All in all, when I first swatched the pieces after I returned from holiday, most of the items I ordered sight unseen left me cold. Some weeks later though I can tell you that I wore them more often than I anticipated.

My Picks from Chanel Le Rouge Collection

Swatch-wise most of the products are terrible. Sorry, there is no other way to put it into better words. The quad Les 4 Ombres #268 Candor Et Experience swatches very sheer and the shades are very close to one another other than the interesting red in the mix. Illusion D'Ombre #132 Rouge Contraste crumbles when you touch it with finger and although it is dark, doesn't give enough pigment. Illusion D'Ombre #128 Rouge Brúle was the only item along with Stylo Jeux Waterproof #928 Eros which performed as expected from Chanel Make-up, smooth, pigmented and easy to work with.

Swatch: Chanel Les 4 Ombres #268 Candeur Et Expérience, Stylo Yeux #928 Eros, Illusion D'Ombre #132, #128

Once applied, Chanel Les 4 Ombres #268 Candor Et Experience ends up to really flatter green eyes so in case you swatched and skipped, I recommend you to give it a try at the counter if possible. This quad is a very unique one in my collection of hundred of quads. The combination of taupe/brownish shades with such an earthy red is new to me and I enjoy it immensely at the moment.

Stylo Jeux Waterproof #928 Eros is also a very unique shade but over the eyes it doesn't look so well on me. I need a bit more definition there so I ended up using it over black and I like it like that. I should have probably purchased the second Stylo as well.

Illusion D'Ombre #132 Rouge Contraste swatches terribly but applies even worse. I have each and every single Illusion D'ombre released to date and without doubt I can tell that this one is not au par with the quality of the others. Maybe I got a bad one? Is yours better? It is dry, doesn't glide, patchy once applied, everything you wouldn't wish to have.

Illusion D'Ombre #128 Rouge Brúle on the other hand is exactly the opposite, applies like a dream. I am personally not very fond of the orange hues in this one but I can see that one flattering the blue eyes girls. I use this as a base to the quad, like in the look I have for you below.

FOTD with Chanel Le Rouge Collection

Since I didn't get the blush, I completed this look with Tom Ford Cheek Color in Ravish which I am loving for this season. On the lips I have Rouge Allure Ink #150 Luxuriant.  I am hoping to review these soon but very shortly, the formula impressed me so much with #150 Luxuriant, it doesn't dry but it is so long lasting. It also doesn't emphasize dry patches on the lips. Big love. Then I got a second shade, #140 Amoureux and it is so meh unfortunately.

Below you can also see my new Dior Earrings. Ultradior, which I love love right now, a gift from hubby. Would you like a review of these? It feels so wrong to gush about something Dior in a Chanel review, but oh well.

FOTD with Chanel Le Rouge Collection

As I have mentioned, I am still experimenting with the nail shades. I first thought the jelly one would be a topper for the other but it didn't bring anything new and ended up taking forever to dry. How do you wear these? Alone?

My Picks from Chanel Le Rouge Collection

Final thoughts: Loving the quad although it swatches bad. From Illusion D'ombres, the only one which was worth it was #128 Rouge Brúle. Another item I am loving is Rouge Allure Ink #150 Luxuriant, very impressive long lasting formula on that one, thumbs up.

Did you pick up anything from this collection? Any more recommendations?
